SONG LYRICS

Take a guess at the song and add your own

Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum

I walked along the avenue.
I never thought Id meet a girl like you;
Meet a girl like you.
With auburn hair and tawny eyes;
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
Hypnotize me through.

More than this- Norah Jones......tough one!!

Been around the world and found
That only stupid people are breeding
The cretins cloning and feeding
And I don't even own a TV

Put me in the hospital for nerves
And then they had to commit me
You told them all I was crazy
They cut off my legs now I'm an amputee, Goddam you

Okay, I was going to give someone else a chance on this one, but this is my new favorite game. Jimmy Buffet- Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes I think......Here's another:

How about a pair of pink sidewinders
And a bright orange pair of pants
Well, you could really be a Beau Brummel baby
If you just give it half a chance
Don't waste your money on a new set of speakers
You get more mileage from a cheap pair of sneakers
Next phase, new wave , dance craze, anyways

Nick Cave is a great lyricist! From "Into My Arms."

Here's one from another great lyricist and a band that deserved better:

"A man is not measured
By the size of his field.
But by the point of his choice,
The grain of his voice,
The strength of his yield."

PS: My sister sang backup on this album, so be kind....

Here's mine:

Sounded sad upon the radio, he moved a million hearts in mono.
Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them.

Tom Lehrer- When you are old and gray

The deception with tact, just what are you trying to say?
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet, why don't they:

Epic (Faith No More)

There must be some way out of here, said the joker to the thief,
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth.

No reason to get excited, the thief, he kindly spoke,
There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.

Blitzkrieg Bop

Ramones

I'll tell you about Texas radio and the big beat
Soft driven, slow and mad
Like some new language
Reaching your head with the cold, sudden fury of a divine messenger
Let me tell you about heartache and the loss of god
Wandering, wandering in hopeless night
Out here in the perimeter there are no stars

Out here we is.....

Blitzkreig Bop - Ramones...

"Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night."

For Emily...

That has to be one of the most beautiful songs Simon and Garfunkel has ever recorded...

and though, Paul Simon is a great songwriter, I think, it's the emotion with which Art Garfunkel sings it that makes it so beautiful.

This is the full lyric set...

What I dream I had, dressed in organdy
Clothed in crinoline, of smoky Burgundy
Softer than the rain

I wandered empty streets, down past the shop displays
I heard cathedral bells, tripping down the alley ways
As I walked on

And when you ran to me your cheeks flushed with the night
We walked on frosted fields of juniper and lamplight
I held your hand

And when I awoke and felt you warm and near
I kissed your honey hair with my grateful tears
Oh I love you, girl

Oh, I love you

Dirty Boulevard - Lou Reed

Every time i think of you
I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue
It's no problem of mine but it's a problem I find
Living a life that I can't leave behind
There's no sense in telling me
The wisdom of a fool won't set you free
But that's the way that it goes
And it's what nobody knows
While every day my confusion grows
Every time I see you falling
I get down on my knees and pray
I'm waiting for that final moment
You'll say the words that I can't say

Kaelin, are you trying to close this thread?

the End...Beatles

I hope not

Cause:

you think you`re gonna to live your life alone
in darkness
and seclusion
yeah I know
you`ve been out there
tried to mix with those animals
and it just left you full of humiliated confusion
so you stagger back home
and wait for nothing
but the solitary refinement of your room spits you back out onto the street
and now you`re desperate
and in need of human contact
and then
you meet me
and you whole world changes
because everything I say is everything you`ve ever wanted to hear
so you drop all your defenses and you drop all your fears
and you trust me completely
I`m perfect
in every way
cause I make you feel so strong and so powerful inside
you feel so lucky
but your ego obscures reality
and you never bother to wonder why
things are going so well

Hey no - it's not the end - just the truth cause I'm not a
Liar (Henry Rollins)

but I digress so on to the
Desert sky
Dream beneath a desert sky
The rivers run
But soon run dry
We need new dreams tonight
Desert rose
Dreamed I saw a desert rose
Dress torn in ribbons
And in bows
Like a siren she calls (to me)
Sleep comes like a drug...

In God's Country - U2

I'm coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this
It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke
And she's taking a drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest
Now, he takes off her dress
Now, let me go

The Killers- Mr. Brightside

Virgil Cain is my name
And I served on the Danville train
Till Stoneman's cavalry came
And tore up the tracks again

Smaug?

Mr. Brightside- the killers

I'm not a coward,
I've just never been tested
I'd like to think that if I was,
I would pass
Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go
I might be a coward,
I'm afraid of what I might find out

You'll be sorry one day
Yes you will, yes you will
You shouldn't push me around
Cause I will, yes I will
You will be sorry when I'm big
Yes you will be sorry

Wow Luci - you must be channeling Smaug picking on Lodi with
One Angry Dwarf And Two Hundred Solemn Faces by Ben Folds Five

Of course, next Smaug will probably launch into a rousing rendition with these lyrics:

They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
Theyre gonna get you every time

Only because he likes to annoy her (that last line he should keep in mind LOL)

I swear by stars above, sweet as honey
People think you're down and out
You show them what it's all about

well that's the name of the dang song. I'll catch on eventually. How about

I likes that Lou Reed, Sandy.
Satellite of Love

A Perfect day to get out of bed
Shower, dress, shave, kiss you on the head
Then I hit the office and my head starts to swim
A perfect day to just walk around
See a violent movie and check the sounds
But even on the street when I hear a phone ring my heart starts to beat
When I get home I don't want you to speak...

Lou Reed - Down At The Arcade

I said I could just love and be just one guy that you need
I could say I could be one guy that you love
I could just be anyone you want me to be, now, now
I said I could be just anyone you want me to be

Superb! Otis Redding's "Your One and Only"....

Let's stay in the genre:

"Life is too short to worry about unimportant things.
Reach for the sky, touch your star, and then you find your dream.
Cause dreamin' alone, it's a shame indeed
But if you got love that's all you need ..."

Don't Talk To Me About Work

Well that's how I truly feel - cause it's work work work all the time - as a matter of fact:

Five O'Clock in the mornin'
I'm up before the sun
When my work day is over
I'm too tired for havin' fun
Lord I am so tired
How long can this go on

Wow, didn't know that you were so into the early NY punk scene!

The cops are well-groomed, with
Muscled physiques in ____ ____
Their tan uniforms are tailored in chic
In ____ ____
Any young Black male who walks down the street
Is gonna get stopped by a car full of meat
BUt the girl with the hair
Flies by in her underwear-

Oh, but it WASN'T from the NY punk scene. It was done in 1975 and was from Dr. Demento's Delights! It was very popular in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

Is this the real life,
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide

Was the proud land of our fathers
It belongs to us and them

It's Rodolfo, from La Boheme by Puccini

I'm taking a break from this. The thread's too long now and takes too long to load.

Thanks for a real good time!

(That's "Loose Lucy" by the Grateful Dead)
