Q FOR THE MOVIE BUFFS......

I was idly watching an old movie yesterday, made in 1956......the blockbuster of its day: "Giant", starring James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor etc etc.
Now I coulda sworn I saw Elvis Presley doing a bit part in the latter part of the movie, helping fold a US flag that had been draped on a coffin.
Does anybody know if Elvis did bit parts in movies, and was he in this'un?

The Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) makes no mention of it, so my guess is...no. I also don't believe Elvis ever did any 'bit' parts.

I'll ask him. He comes in our Burger King for lunch on alternate 3rd Thursdays.

It's highly doubtful.

Little-known Elvis didn't sign with Col. Tom Parker, his career mastermind, until August of 1955 and didn't start recording with him until later that year.

Giant was filmed in the summer and fall of 1955 so it's unlikely Presley would be in it. It was released a year later, in 1956, when Elvis had by that time become a huge success.

I just watched the scene you mentioned. The actor does look like Elvis. But, he is a bit too short & chunky to be Elvis. Elvis did not have a moustache then, either.
