WR/WM FLUKES

"A particular player seems to be getting flukes every time she plays....1mks. Can you fix this problem? Thanks."

The above was turned in to "report a bug". I actually laughed so hard I nearly fell out of my chair. I should be used to my fellow man by now but they are continually amazing me with their petty little complaints. Ya know, I had told several people that I would not be playing so much this month because I was frankly tired of the wr/wm. Well guess what? I have rethought that and will now play with a vengeance! Signed, "Broad In Total Control of Herself."

Bwwwwwahahahahaha

Apparently people still think you can cheat at WR's or WM's. Well maybe you can. Please post your best cheating tips here.

I use mirrors and WD40.

I think it is petty for someone to report that situation - this is just a game after all. But, it can be frustrating to see someone who is the recipient of so many flukes when one is practicing to get their times faster. I remain flukeless. Where and when can I get one? I think I could delude myself into thinking it was real. Anyway, the thing is, even without flukes, Marsha's times are very fast. And, she is not the only person to benefit from a fluke here and there. Honestly, it makes me laugh when I see the times under 10 secs!

Marsha - don't let one or two out of a great community get you down!

Ooohhh, WD40 (jotting down tip quickly), never thought of that! Now, does that go on the right-click side of my mouse or left???

Early on, I figured there must be some trick...but then I realized some of us folks are just more ham-handed than others.

I still don't know how someone can finish those dang things in less than 10 seconds, though....More power to the folks who can. It's a gift, like the contestants who can hit the Jeopardy buzzer just a touch faster then the rest of us mortals.

I don't know what a fluke is Is, I haven't had one in all the time I've done these wrs, but I know there's no way to read and answer 10 questions in 5 or 6 seconds without some help of some kind.

I'm telling you, squirt your keyboard and mouse full of WD40, set a mirror right at your face. Works every time.

I seem to have observed that flukes tend to happen to the nicer players (excluding me ). Perhaps this is some type of cosmic reward bestowed by the Sploof gods. Or maybe beta is a little goofy at times. So what - hope you get 50 more flukes Marsha and whoop all our butts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but practice practice gets you in the teens, flukes gets you in the single digits, for the most part. And for the big duh factor, the more often you play, the more likely you are to have flukes. Marsha (1mks) and all other platinum members have 1000 chances an hour to get a fluke.....I'm pretty sure the fluke is only with the time, all answers must still be correct.

It always tickles me when people just assume that there is no way 1mks could actually just be smarter than they. In my little world, I was always the smart girl, preferring books to chatting about boys, but in Sploofus world, I would likely be remanded to the short bus.

The more you play the more likely you are once in a while to get a fluke time or an anti-fluke ...extra long delay.
When the game does not start on time and you get the loading sign at the bottom, make sure to play the game extra carefully --just like a gold diamond screen.
I got one a week for a couple of months, then one last week, the first for three months. they are worth waiting for but only Marsha seems to have mastered the art; dont hate her coz she's a player.

As for how much I play...on the current wr: #3 (of 1000) 100% 15.881 sec. and for the wm: #2 (of 1000) 100% 22.688 sec
So that means for this hour, I have done it exactly 5 times......I am certainly not sitting here TRYING to get a fluke. I'm now done for the hour.

When I played WRs I used to stop time, browse thru my Encyclopaedia Brittanica - stopping for a light lunch - and use my right pinky toe to check the circles.
I'm currently wearing WD40 as a cologne and Hot Damn it works!

Axle grease is a good substitue for WD-40. I can cover the entire keyboard in a split second!

Honestly, as humorous as this thread is, I'm not entirely sure why this is such a big deal. Flukes happen to everybody, but the only person they happen to regularly is Marsha. That's a bug. The purpose of beta testing is to fix bugs. Why does everybody care about that? Confused....

I can see Jeremy's point. I don't think the complaint was about Marsha so much as there is a problem in the system. If new people base paying for a membership based on doing more wr/wms they may think it's not worth it if they can't compete with 3-10 sec. scores. I mean, who can?

If you're a non-paying member and get only 2 shots - probably not going to happen.

Gold - you only get 10 tries - might happen, but the odds are against you.

Platinum - you can play as many games in as you can fit. You can bail out of a game that you know is going to be a high score and start a new one immediately. You are going to have a much higher probability of catching a fluke (lag or glitch in the system) than anyone who is not playing very many times in an hour.

If you see the sight all of a sudden lagging, quick, go do a WR. If there's a long pause before your game kicks over, do your WR as quickly as you can, get a 100% and TA-DA, you will most likely see a fluke. In order to get the flukes under 10 seconds, you need to a good 15 second round fluke. I have discovered that will end up taking off 5-10 seconds off your time. We have even seen flukes on here that have gone into the negative times. Your computer speed and connection speed also play a big factor in how they react with the system glitches.

But its always the same - every few months, somebody crops up with some accusatory comments on how people are cheating, must have help, etc. Its "usually" someone fairly new to Sploofus so they don't know the history of the glitches in the system, who hasn't played WR's until their wrists hurt, and who hasn't paid for a membership that will allow them to grow as a WR player and experience some of the things for which others get accused. That is my hope. Those who are quick to accuse end up being on the other end of the stick. Getting a fluke is kind of a WOOHOO!!!!!!! experience. Normally, when someone gets one, we all slap them on the back, call them a lucky dog, and play harder to try and snag one ourselves.

Great thread!
Eesus just gave a superlative analysis for the fluke phenomenon.

I believe I had a fluke once. I finished with an 18 second WR [not realy that fast in comparison] ,but it was my best time ever.

My best times are about 27 seconds, so my fluke might have shaved 10 seconds.

I'm going to try that WD40 idea.

No catty comments here as my two monsters just had dinner, and are currently in La-La land.

I must admit that my male appears to have a crush on 1mks' avatar.

Dear BITCH (Broad In Total Control of Herself),

The above symptoms indicate that you are addicted to the fluke.

Please report to Sploofus Addiction Center.

Yes- be prepared for any signs of the PANDEMIC FLUKE on Sploofus Island.

It's possibly carried by birdies.

I'm just glad to find out what a "fluke" is and why everybody wants one. The flukes I've heard about are parasitic worms and I dang sure didn't want one !

Um, Katy, remember that 18 you got once? That was a fluke. Otherwise it would have been a 30.

I once got a minus 305 second fluke, which I believe holds the record for the flukiest fluke ever It just lagged & lagged & I let it run to see what would happen.
