THANKS FOR THE EA, EDITORS, AND QUESTION

Someone popped a comment on my quiz launched today, challenging the data in one of the answers (which is fine, historical stuff is sometimes murky to source).

I got a PM from him, replied and supplied him with the citation. But the comment challenging the answer is there on the quiz unreplied to as an error in the answers, and I don't know how to answer it there.

An interesting Beta 2.0 conundrum....adding a place for public quiz comments may also mean having to add a place for responses/corrections, ala Ebay ratings.

I think you can choose to have them show or not.

I've wondered the same thing about seeing a comment before you take a quiz. So, the author can hide the comment, or are you saying the commenter can hide/his or her comments?
When I check the box to send the comment to the author, I believe it still shows up visible on the quiz opening page.

I cannot find how to hide the comment. I don't think I've gotten any - but I had a quibble with an author about an answer, and sent a comment to the author which mentioned answers to 2 of the questions. I didn't realize it would show up publicly - so now anyone who goes to take that quiz will see two of the answers before they take it. I sure didn't mean to do that - I don't like this feature of 2.0.

I've seen comments on quizzes giving details about questions and answers, too. They were just comments, with the expectation of privacy. A PM should remain a Private Message. Maybe the author could pick a comment to display if he/she chooses, or maybe there could be a separate area for users to post public comments.

A couple of times this feature has helped me. When there is a wrong answer, and someone PM's someone about it, I've been able to avoid getting that question wrong by reading the comments!!

Jeez, I didn't even think of that. The comment on mine would give away an answer.

I just logged out and looked at it and the comment was visible.

Major glitssue here.

Agreed. I don't like the comments showing. I think it will stop people leaving comments.

I think what would fix that problem is the option before you send a comment to make it public or private.

I don't think they should show up publicly at all. I have stopped leaving comments because of this new feature.

Likewise Alice and Donna. I placed a comment on the first day of beta. I checked 'pm author', assuming I would be doing exactly that. I was horrified when it showed - it wasn't a bad comment as such, just one meant for the author only. In fact I seem to remember it was about hymns and I just commented that the hymns in the States must be different to the ones we have in the UK (partly because I had done so badly) but thank you for the quiz! Since then if I've wanted to send a comment, I've gone in on the quiz author's ID and sent a pm. This is rather more fiddly to do than on Old Sploofus, so many people now receive no comment at all. Shame!
