NEW WAVE

I need help, I missed the eighties, especially the new wave movement. Guess it was those pesky diapers I was still in. Can somebody help fill me in on what some of the best songs and bands were during this time? I've caught up on some of it, but still feel woefully behind. Thanks.

Hi Jeremy - you didn't miss much!

Probably worth pointing out that 'your' New Wave and mine are slightly different. The US version started a bit later than the British one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Wave_music

As an introduction to the British version (which included original 'punk' type bands), find a copy of the album 'Three Minute Heroes' on Amazon or somewhere. I'll post the discography of it next.

Cheers,
Martin

They all look like US bands to me Jeremy - certainly the Dimestore Haloes are pretty well known Bostonians (I think).

If you manage to download the Brit stuff (and like it ), can I suggest you try The Only Ones? Best-of compilations of theirs are pretty easy to come by. (You may already know their one big hit, 'Another Girl, Another Planet')
Definitely worth further investigations!

My personal favorite 80s band is Bon Jovi but if they had big hair (ie Cinderella, Poison, Motley Crue, etc.)I listened
