TAX REBATE CHECK

My husband and I were expecting our tax rebate check direct deposited today. When it was not deposited, I called the IRS.

After talking to machines, and being on hold for 20 minutes, I finally got a hold of a human being who explained to me that if you used a tax preparer such as H & R Block who takes their fees out first before they direct deposit the refund, you receive a paper check instead of having the rebate direct deposited. The words the representative used were "the cycle was broken."

Hopefully my frustration my save someone else on our little island a little bit of worry.

I wasn't worried, but your post made me check, and good news, America! Economic stimulus is on the way!

I saw news story on TV about how the rebate would be delayed if tax payers got a loan from the company that prepared their taxes.

Ours was deposited in our checking account the second day they were sent out. Used it to fill up the gas tank on the van.

Nope. I use turbotax online and direct deposit. Yours should be deposited on the scheduled day but may now show up until the next, according to your bank's policy.

Yeah I have been watching the bank account for the money online for the last week hoping it would be deposited early since they got a head start on it. Nope but I found out on the website that if you used TurboTax and such and you had the fees for filing paid out of your refund instead of using a credit card or your checking account or something like that, then you will be mailed a paper check. From what I understand, the direct deposit that I got for my refund wasn't directly from the IRS and I do remember TurboTax sending me a link to Santa Barbara Bank and Trust when I did it to check the refund status, and since the money did not come directly to MY bank account from the IRS because it was sent to the Turbotax bank to have fees deducted first then the tax stimulus check will not be direct deposited. I went back through the bank statements and sure enough it has RALdept as who posted the payment to the account, even though I didn't necessarily want a RAL and it still took 2 weeks to get my money, so I don't see how you can call it a refund anticipation loan...but anyway. Long story short....if it hasn't showed up by the date for the direct deposits you are probably sitting with the rest of us scratching our heads grumbling and waiting on the check to be mailed.....which means we should get ours sometime in late June/early July. I wanted to stimulate the economy NOW....not two months from now. *sigh*

The way I see it, It'll be in the mail June 27th. What Smeans said about the Santa Barbara Bank rang a bell with me. I'll get paper.

I'll get paper also. The economy in Michigans U.P. will be stimulated in June. Especially the food and booze business. That does count doesn't it?

The IRS web site has charts that show, according to the last two digits of your SSN, when either DD or snailmail checks will be sent.

We received ours the first few day they came out and right now it is still in the bank, will probably use for gas for our van for all the trips we are having to make to Indiana University medical center with Robin our third one will be coming up in June and we are still waiting on some answers. Seems like the trip to Indianapolis gets longer each time with it being 420 miles round trip.

Well, having a social security number that ends in 9, I'm always at the back of the line! Oh well, it should come next Friday from what I read - what there is of it, that is!
