Besides not getting my email trivia questions I can't get the timer to stop counting down after I answer the question. Anyone else having trouble with this? I have a showdown challenge to do but have been putting it off because of the timer.

I have been experiencing the timer trouble on the TQOTD. Its disheartening to click your answer and just keep watching the timer fall until it hits 0. In the past, I have had it actually time me out but recently its still been registering the answer within the 30 seconds. Although its been registering in the 20 seconds rather than when I actually clicked the answer. That's fine by me as long as I still get it registered instead of a timeout.

Last time someone challenged me to a showdown, I clicked the answer and the timer didn't keep going at all. It instantly changed to the screen that said I had exceeded the time limit. I think its hard to feel successful in showdowns when you're not just competing against the other player, but battling with the various glitches within the system.

Must be a little different for everybody. Mine keeps dropping for an eternity after I click, but I think it's giving me correct times. I always purge and burp the computer and close all other windows before answering anything on a timer.

Trade you my vocabulary blockage for your slow timer?

I've also been having timer trouble with my TQOTD but haven't noticed it with showdowns. I think tech support is aware of the problem, as I've seen the editors noting that database lags are causing problems. In my case, fortunately, the timer trouble is not affecting my score, as far as I can tell. Last night, I answered a question quickly, but the timer kept going and going. Finally when the "congratulations" screen popped up, it showed that I had answered in under 3.xx seconds, so I was content. But I can certainly understand anyone's frustration when the system doesn't properly record your time or you get booted out altogether. It seems the lag is causing different problems for different people. All I can suggest is contacting support if you haven't already.

Timer trouble here also. Scares the pants off ya! NOT a pretty sight!

ditto here. i watched the timer continue after answering my question this morning. it dropped nearly 20 seconds before the congratulations screen appeared .. and there it said i had answered in 8.xx seconds.

my heart rose to my throat as that timer plunged though.

i lost a showdown a couple of days ago. my challenger won by answering in 5.xx seconds. i answered correctly but the system doesn't give the losing time so there is no way to tell if that was just me being slower or a glitch in the system.

Sent in support ticket-timed out on TQOTD.
The screen was white for a long time before the question came up if that's any indication?

I had saved up my TQOTD and did only three of them after the first ran me out of time even though I answered the question fairly fast. Sent in a support ticket and they sent a replacment.

Call me stupid (although I prefer Lisa) but I had 2 vocab questions and 3 wager tokens sitting there tempting me ... so I went for it. Can't believe with all these posts on timer problems I went ahead and did it anyway.. duh!!?! Of course the page loaded really wonky, I couldn't click on any answer and then it switched to an error page.. lost my wager points!! I have put in a support ticket but, I'm very hesitant to try to regain my points with another wager. If the problem isn't fixed within the next few days, I'm going to lose an opportunity to wager on my 2nd vocab question before it expires as I definitely won't wager again until this problem has been corrected.

Does anyone know if the same problem exists in original Sploofus (1.0)?

Yes, I'm too new to be a beta-tester, so I'm playing at the original site. Anyway, as noted above, I've also had some timer issues, although not to the same extent as other people, i.e. despite a lot of lag, the system has always eventually recorded my answer and given me what seems to be the correct amount of bonus points.

Maybe someone else playing in 1.0 will want to weigh in on this, so you can decide what to do. Good luck, and I hope you're able to use your wager token before your vocabulary question expires!

I answer my TQOTDs in 1.0, and this morning the lag was bad. I don't sign on much anymore, so I had 11 TQOTDs waiting for me.

When the timer on the first one continued to run down to zero after I answered it, I started writing down my points and level before I answered the rest to see if I got the question right.

Good news: I take my time now to make sure I read the Q right, especially for the "which is" and "which is not" Qs, and I get more Qs correct.

Bad news: If I get it wrong and the timer runs out, I don't get to see the correct answer and have learned nothing.

Just a note to say thanks Sploofus support team!! I'm happy again ... will we get an announcement when tqod issues are resolved to let us know it's ok to wager again?

It's been doing that to me for awhile too. I usually answer the question withing ten seconds but it gets really close to zero before it registers my answer. It hasn't timed me out yet but it might someday.

I hear ya Scifidwarf but, to me, that puts more pressure on us - especially when wagering. Actually have 10 seconds to answer rather than 30 or you'll time out is nervewracking - and may be more likely to answer incorrectly if there's that much pressure.

If it's under 10 seconds left I get the ERROR Page - I've had connection issues at home so was playing catch up on questions - if I answered before 10 seconds were left - all was well - otherwise got the error screen - don't count on that error screen though to alert for a reset - you still need to send in a support ticket - this is happening to me on beta - I have been trying only to do beta and not fall back to regular at this point (although I miss some of the things on it) - I answsered 10 yda I think and had 3 of them give me the S01 (or is it S03?) error - I hadn't heard anything back so I followed up with a help support ticket - they were able to help me - and check to see if the right answer went through or not - if you are having error troubles - make note of your current points and level before answering - so that they will be able to see if it made a difference - apparently one of my registered the points even if I didn't see it - and one didn't.

I thought I was the only one having problems with the question of the day. I click the answer and the time runs out and I get the error page. Sent in 3 support tickets and so far no response to any of them. I thought maybe my computer was just slow.

My timer also takes a long time to register after clicking the answer. Sometimes I think it will go into an error. Maybe Justin is working on it.

I actually had the opposite happen to me a few weeks ago - wagered a bundle on a movie question and the timer went from 30 to 0 in about 5 seconds. The editors kindly gave me my points and wager token back - which I then promptly officially blew - must've meant I was going to miss the question anyway! Now it seems it is going down slowly but keeps going - I have noticed that even when it times out and I've answered correctly that my level changes appropriately. And it seems to be happening in both beta and version 1 .

I play old Sploofus not Beta 2 and no matter how quickly or slowly I answer the question the timer goes all the way to the bottom before the screen ticks over. It then comes up with congratulations or sorry but doesn't ever say I have timed out if I haven't. This has only started in the last week or so.

I had four tqotd time out in a row and got the error message. I sent in the support ticket each time. Who knew if I was right and should get credit. I said so in my comments (each one increasingly testier). It was annoying. You can't wager until the problem is fixed.

My experience recently is much like that described by Scifidwarf.

So far, no time-outs, and the actual timer score seems to be correct.
Answer fairly quickly- and all seems copacetic.

I seem to get timed out on 60 to 70% of my TQOTD. I answer, but the clock keeps running, and then I get an error message. As its on 1.0, I put in a support ticket as well as error message. Usually get another question which is a pig, and times out again. The whole thing is a mess.

Barnie, have you tried purging caches files and rebooting before answering questions? That seems to help me, and closing all other windows can't hurt either.

Every friggin time I do a wager the damn thing times out...

Thank you to the Sploofgods for resetting them, I'm getting a bit frustrated.

I personal do not think the problem is on our end. This is a new problem. I have great computer with a great connection and it will sometimes keep running for 15-20 seconds. I also always close everything before I do a question.

I'm with you. The whole thing is a mess. At least its not just us poor relations on 1.0 that have to suffer.

I just wish we were informed of why, other than beta, and when the problem should be fixed.

Yeah ....that's the best idea
Someone tell us when the problem is over,
and we can just stack up our questions
until then!!!!

I'm sure Justin knows about the problem and is working on it. It's my understanding that he's the only one doing the programming for Sploofus, or? Even with his four arms and two heads and the ability to manipulate time so that he never needs to sleep, he's got a lot on his plate. I understand the frustration, especially on the part of beta testers for whom the problem seems worse. But maybe we could cut Justin some slack. As unfun as it is to have the system lag or time-out, I'm sure it's equally unfun for Justin knowing his Sploofuser friends are unhappy, so I feel confident he's doing the best he can.

Don't forget that questions expire after 10 days. From my expeirience, if a question is answered in under 10 seconds, the timer may move further down, but your answer will be properly logged.

That's not good enough Ken.. as per my earlier post, having only 10 seconds to answer puts undue pressure on the answeree (is that a word? lol). Sometimes, if the questions is long enough, it takes at least that to read it.

I've got 3 wager tokens and 3 vocab questions waiting on a fix.. the first of them expires in 4 days.

Not a happy camper here.

I think it's highly unlikely there will be a fix in the next 4 days, considering that this problem has existed for at least a month already.

If you wager and answer correctly, and the timer delay causes you to lose the wager, can't you put in a support ticket and ask an editor to give you your points back (and wager token back)?

I think they've offered this in other threads but I might be wrong.

I realize they can't give you your Vocab question back.
