WHAT IS A POST

What does post mean at the top of each message?

If you mean "post a response" it's just the link you click to respond to somebody's message in a forum. Is that what you mean??

To post means to display or announce in a place of public view. So if you are going to write anything here on Sploofus it would be considered a "post".

this informs you that you have written a total of 34 messages on the chat boards as of 12:49am EDT May 21, 2008.

I guess I wasn't very clear. It shows posts 34. I haven't put that many messages on the boards. When I search it shows about 9 posts I have made and that seems about right. Just wondered if the posts 34 had a different meaning.

Loveland has started 1 threads:

Thread Date Thread Name
05/20/2008 What is a post

Loveland has participated in 9 threads:

Thread Date Thread Name
05/20/2008 What is a post
05/14/2008 Featured Player 5/14
05/10/2008 Add a Number 2
04/30/2008 Pick a Winner
04/30/2008 Song Lyrics
04/26/2008 Has anyone else noticed...
04/19/2008 Add a Number
04/18/2008 Silly jokes-
03/13/2008 Neverending Activity

it says that you started one "thread" and participated in 9 others.

a thread and a post are different. a thread is a series of posts on a given topic.

for example: you started a 'thread' on a topic titled "What is a post" with a 'post'.. as of now you have 2 posts to that thread.

and i know you have posted several times to the thread "Neverending Activity" just like i have.

hope to see many more posts as you enjoy yourself on the sploofus island!

Do you mind if I ask if Loveland is where you live?

The nickname is not as romantic as you think. It is the name of the street where my grandparents lived in Michigan.

When you first enter a forum, it says at the top, "New topic". If you click on that you are starting a new thread. Actually you are posting a message. It becomes a thread when people respond to it. Does that clear it up?

However, I don't remember now, because I have been platinum for 5 months, but it may be that you have to be a paying member to start your own thread. If you don't see the "New Topic" at the top of a chat forum, then that must be the reason. So upgrade already!

Not that long ago, nonpaying members could not post at all. See the first post at http://www.sploofus.com/bbs_detail.sp?post=48217&cID=1 that appeared last September.
The Gold and Platinum Forums never did appear, but I think that's for the best, anyway.

hey Robin,..you are right, we can't get that info anymore with 2.0.. i posted that on Wed, 21st May '08 6:51 AM .. before the change.

i really wish we could have that access again.. but i guess that isn't a priority on Justin's "to do" list.
