If you have any thoughts, suggestions or words of enlightenment, please got to the Hotwire and let the Sploofus Royalty hear your ideas. Mine is to keep it the same, but that's just me. The problem is the structure of question wording. Please check this out.

There is no "the same" to keep; this is Beta Testing of a brand new game!

There were no clear guidelines but the game was supposed to be DIFFERENT from quizzes. So far it is not being the authored as most of the editors understood it was supposed to be. It is being authored just like quizzes. What's the point in having two different games if they are essentially the same?

Ker-Blunk is supposed to be a quick game where one provides a missing word, not another way of asking a question with a blank in it. And we are now trying to iron out what the rules and guidelines for authoring should be.

So please, more of the beta testers need to chime in on that conversation. Take a few Ker-Blunks and then go to Hotwire to offer your opinion.

I think I understand the goal.

Mary had a little ________?

Not: What did Mary have whose fleece was white as snow?

And Not: The ______ had fleece that was as white as snow?

OK but why would anyone want to do it? I do not see the learning effect, the challenge or the pass time value. Help me.

I like the crossword idea but the help from the other words is limited since the number of letters provided is minimal.

The missing issues are the ability to see how your quizzes are doing and to see lots of other folk playing along with you. The word 'chilly' comes to mind.

Kerplunk is a programming achievement with little romance ... as yet.

Why would anyone want to do them? Frankly, there are people different from you and me. And a lot of them like this stuff. Remember the days before FITBs were outlawed? What was hogging the Top 25 Quizzes? A lot of "Complete the Hitchcock Movie Title" or "Beatles Songs FITB". But regardless, whether or not you understand the attraction, you can't very well deny it's there.

"Time Out Ken !!" To my knowledge for almost a year there has been an unfinished link in the Quiz writing section that has been saying Ker-Blunk is a comin'.. Being part of 2.0 testing, I figured I'd help out. Myself and many others have given our time (for minimal points) to help get this off the ground. Players like it and they're fun to write. What the heck is the big thing about question structure and all that intellectual baloney. Ker-Blunk doesn't take away from quiz writers totals, why not let it go?? Is there some big Trivia grading system that is going to give Sploofus a low grade, I don't think so. I've been doing word rounds and matches this afternoon and to be quite honest, whomever is writing the quizzes ought to try to simplify their mastery of the English language.

What did I say?

Other than that plenty of people like quickie FITBs?

It doesn't always have to extreme trivia. After a full days work some of us want something light and easy. Not everyone is looking for a quiz with a bunch of fluff to read, when a trivia question can be communicated so much easier. Justin and Sploofus are awesome. We are provided with enough diversions here for everyone to find something they enjoy. It all don't have to be Rocket Surgery.

I personally am not a big fan of kerblunks, but the proposed distinction between what is acceptable FITB and what is unacceptable FITB is rather illusive to me. So, I say let Papermanbill do the kerblunks the way he's been doing them.
