I know there was already a thread started - but couldn't find it, so.....
I can't think of a better reason to go platinum than for this - I went gold for taking the WP's and I'll stay platinum to help support the site and write them!

I've already begun my next one - knowing how long it took me to put together my first one.

I've tried to never be critical of the editors - but having done JUST one - I think we owe them ALL a great big thanks for all past word puzzles and the effort put in to deliver 2 a day. My understanding is that editors are a volunteer position and I think they have done an amazing job in the year and almost a half that I've been a member.

I personally think this is a wonderful move and am looking forward to all the "fresh minds" of the platinum member submissions - and if I were an editor, I think I'd probably be offering up a hearty "GOOD MOVE JUSTIN!"

As I recall, the idea of member-written Word Puzzles arose during a meeting between Justin and many of the editors. I think it was our friend Sploofanatic who first brought up the idea that evolved into this. So give credit where due.

Nice post, Kaelin, and I agree wholeheartedly!

Sploofanatic, thank you for your great idea, and thanks to Justin and all the other editors who helped make it a reality.

I've enjoyed all of the member-written WPs, and I look forward to writing my next one.

It was probably a real challenge for the editors to constantly create a nice variety of themes for us. Now, variety is built-in by having so many of us participating. And it's neat getting to know a little bit more about each player through their WPs.

I was glad to read in the "Guide to Word Puzzle Authoring" that editors will still write WPs whenever they want, as I also appreciate their sense of humor and interesting topics. The more the merrier!

Thanks Sploofanatic for this idea

We are all enjoying the diversity
of so many different writers. It
must have been hard for so few of
you to come up with fresh ideas for
so long....especially when you got
so much criticism!!!!
Now that it's US - we all tend to be
very much more positive!!!! Wonder
why that is happening????

We're a little freer to go out on a limb a bit and we can see what's coming up, so we can add things that are different to keep it all from becoming predictable.

Plus, we have to give the members a chance to really lay into a puzzle every now and then. Otherwise with all that pent up, some may explode.

Walking a mile with an "editor" pen - tends to change the perspective

I'm lovin' all the players Wp's, excellent idea. I think players should be given some sort of points for writing one, maybe an additional 5000 or more, this includes the editors too Danger pay
