I saw the first version of Jack Kerouac's novel, "On The Road", which he wrote in 3 weeks in 1951. What was so unusual about it was that he typed on a scroll. He took a length of tracing paper (120 feet to be exact....but some of it was later eaten by a friend's dog so what was on display was only 119 feet and 8 inches) and he then taped typing paper on it. He did this in order to not have to keep feeding paper into the typewriter and he could just type continuously. I had never known that and thought it was very clever. He would have loved the computer!

Stupid dogs! Mine ate the wall once. OK, 4 times.

Dogs'll eat anything, still gotta love 'em.

Kerouac was probably too high to realize the dog was eating his manuscript! Nevertheless, he influenced alot of people with his writing and thinking...Ken Kesey and Alan Ginsberg, not to mention the Beatles and Bob Dylan. I should probably mention Maynard G. Krebs as well!!!

Remember that puppy I had last year
that kept going nose to nose with me????
He had "separation anxiety" In his
short time with me, he ate the walls
the rugs, the bottoms of the vertical
blinds, my bedstand, and bedside tables.
He also peed on my bed twice, right in front of me.
All to punish me for going shopping etc.
When finally he dragged me down the gravel path
I had to give in and take him to the no-kill Pound.
Last I heard he was adopted by a family....
Hope the man was strong and that
they loved him as much as I did

That was a good story....
My first thought was - the lengths
people go to, to avoid work.
Or maybe he needed money in a hurry
Hope there was nothing important
on that last 4 inches!!!!
What if it was "How to Stop Global
Warming" or "How to Cure Cancer"
