WAGER TOKENS

What are you supposed to do with wager tokens?

Hi,
You can learn about wager tokens and other stuff by reading the Sploofus Survival Guide, available here: http://www.sploofus.com/ssg.sp

Or, hover your mouse over "Your Sploofus Space" then go down to "Player Support" and click on "Survival Guide." Please note that some of the information there is outdated, so naturally, feel free to continue to ask questions here.

Here's what the guide says about wager tokens:

"WAGER TOKENS
Each time you reach a new game play level, you will be rewarded with a Sploofus Wager Token. These tokens can be redeemed before you answer your Sploofus Question of the Day for the category of your choice. Once redeemed, you are able to place a wager on your ability to answer the pending question correctly. If you succeed, you win the wager. If you fail, you lose the wager AND your Level Points are reverted to zero. You can wager up to 25% of your current total Sploofus Points."

I'm sure everyone feels more confident with some trivia categories over others. So far, I've only wagered on Vocabulary questions, but I may also try wagering in other categories just for the fun (or anguish ) of it. In terms of strategy, I think most people will only use a wager token when they're at level x.0 or x.1 or maybe x.2. Otherwise, let's say you're at level x.8 and you lose the wager, then you go all the way back to level x.0.

Also, when you decide you want to wager on a question, you're not taken immediately to the question. When you click the button, "Display My Sploofus Trivia Question of the Day," you're taken to the wagering screen. It says something along the lines of, "Feeling pretty confident are ya?" Anyway, then you decide how many points you want to wager and enter that number into a box. THEN, you click another button and your question is displayed. I think I've portrayed the sequence of events accurately.

I hope that helps!

Thank you! That does help. There is a lot to read and know about this site. I'll do better when I'm out of school for the summer and done taking two classes. I'm overwhelmed sometimes.

Sure you can. But it will cost you.

Because I am a chicken, I only wager when I am at the beginning of a level because you go back to the beginning of that level if you get it wrong. A trick that my husband does (I don't) is wait four or five days after going to a new level and then picking his best category and betting the farm.

I'm not only chicken, I'm just not all that smart and only get about 1/2 right.

I may get villified but I've been there before. Its not how much one loses, its the percentage of the loss in relation to ones total points. Went from 52 million at 7:50 last night to 31 million at 8:00. Just in time to watch 5th grader and feel about as stupid as some of those contestants. Two sports questions with maxium wager left me 100 spaces below where I started. There are worse things that can happen but if points don't matter its time to play showdown.
All the best this weekend wherever you are.

Just to clarify:

When I noted "it would cost you," I meant the cost
of upgrading to gold/platinum.

Occasionally losing points is a natural result of
wagering and is to be expected. That's what makes
gambling fun.

Just be ready to look directly into the monitor and admit to the nation "I am not smarter than an editor". It really smarts.

We lose wagers too. We just try to be less frequent about it.

i found this info under HELP (2.0):

Wager Tokens

All Sploofusers are able to use wager tokens for the first 30 days after creating an account. After that time, you must upgrade your account to continue placing wagers. Your wager tokens will continue to accumulate even if you elect not to upgrade your account.

You will receive a wager token each time you move up one level. To increase your level, you must answer 10 Trivia Questions of the Day correctly. Therefore you receive 1 wager token for every 10 TQOTDs answered correctly. For example, if you are on level 2.3 and answer a wager incorrectly, you will be placed back to level 2.0.

You can wager up to 25% of your current total Sploofus Points.
