It certainly was difficult! I sure didn't score very well - but then that's nothing new for me!

The puzzle was challenging to say the least. It was fun too. I think my toughest one was the first one. After that they made sense and were a "little" easier. I'm wondering how long it took you to come up with this puzzle? Certainly not a run-of-the-mill puzzle and it was quite creative. Good job on your part.

Thanx everyone, I try to be different....probably a bit weird....hopefully my puzzles aren't too frustrating. Again I based them on the old Mad Gab game, and an exerpt from a linguistics program I read on the net. The idea of similarity of sounds in communication intrigues me. oog

I have to say, that was my favoritest puzzle EVER. That was funny and I would slap myself upside the head when one finally clicked. There was one that absolutely made me bust out laughing.

Who knew you were so darn clever?

Who knew I was so very dense? hmmmm, don't answer that........
Nice job, Danny......it WAS extremely clever.......alas, I was NOT. For whatever reason, I just can't wrap my feeble mind around puzzles like that.

I adored this puzzle. Lots of fun, but still possible to figure out. Of course, I made the typical -3 error. But that was my fault. Loved it - thanks!!

That was a tough one, even getting the premise right away, with some multiple possibilites. The clue on my fifth one didn't help much, though afterwards it makes perfect sense. Kudos to those who managed to finish without losing any points along the way--I don't know how you did it!

I used a million letters before I caught on, the first two didn't jive for me. The rest popped right out and made me wish I had my first two over again! So clever, good puzzle!

I'm so dense, I still don't get it. Lost almost half my points but everyone else seems to know what it was all about. Could someone explain now that the puzzle is over so I'll have some kind of understanding if there is a next one?

Hi Susan,

The idea is to sound out the phrase from the clue Oogie gave. For example, the clue for the Fairy Tale "Beauty and the Beast" was Belle. The phrase was:

be you tea hand tub east

Now, say that over and over to yourself and listen, and hopefully you'll be able to hear "Beauty and the Beast."

Another phrase was: send her rail awe for "Cinderella" with the clue being slipper. Again, say it over and over to yourself and see if you can hear the Phonetic Fairy Tale.

I can see how a WP like this might be tough, depending on an English speaker's particular regional accent, etc. For example, I imagine a lot of people pronounce "beauty" as if the "t" is a "d". And plenty of people here on the East Coast of the U.S. naturally say "da" for "the". So, I could see the phrase:

"be you dee hand dub east" working for some people.

Anyway, I extend lots of praise and hat tips to Oogie for coming up with such clever phrases!

Hah Oogie, ya got me last time but not on this one Very clever. Now if I'd just got that one clue (baked - Gingerbread Man) I'd have stayed in the top 10. My brain doesn't wrap itself around this kind of puzzle, something to do with my spelling skills or lack thereof but I took my time & managed it. Damn fine puzzle

Thank you so much Tresgatos!! Light bulbs are going off like crazy. I had company and started the puzzle at 8 minutes before 8 so I really rushed and didn't think...obviously!
Very clever Oogie.
