You know that old saying that your mom always used about digging a hole to China when she caught you digging in the backyard. Well, I thought I had an idea for a interesting quiz. I found an opposite map that will show you what is on the opposite side of the world from any given point. $%*&! world. There is remarkably little land that lines up with other land on the other side of the world. Most of the U.S. is in the Indian Ocean. Australia is in the Atlantic. And so it goes. Spain does match New Zealand and Some of China and SE Asia meets Argentina and Chile. But that is just about it. *~!%$&#.

I tried to dig a hole to China once. Glad I gave up! I would've been drowned!

As I recall, Buenos Aires and Beijing are just about antipodal. Or was it Montevideo?

I went to a Catholic primary school and was taught by nuns. A nun once told us the old story that there are no snakes in Ireland because St Patrick drove them out. But then she asked if we knew another country that doesn't have any snakes. Well, we knew that: the answer is New Zealand. The nun told us that if you drew a line from Ireland through the centre of the earth it would emerge in New Zealand. (We unhesitatingly accepted this as true - after all we were only about 6 years old). Her theory was that the power of St Pat's holy whammy had the serendipitous effect of ridding New Zealand of snakes at the same time as Ireland.

It looks like if I move to Oahu, then I'd end up in Botswana. I'll take it!

Doh - not in thinking mode yet this morning.
I live virtually on the Greenwich Meridian.
So where am I obviously going to end up?
Great site Tuz - thanks - that one's into my library.
