BBEAR'S ROYAL PAIN

Really fun and clever. I loved it...and I just don't catch my typos until I see SORRY!

The non-standard spelling of names spoiled it for me.

Very clever idea. I also thought spellings on one of the puzzles should have been standardized, but really enjoyed it anyway.

I did not get the spelling discrepancy .......... so I really enjoyed it. I thought the clues were MOST clever. Good job!

I got tossed out half way through after running into the non-standard spelling (but catching it before losing points).
i thought it was one of the more thoughtfully constructed puzzles i've 'done'.
Nice variations in the clues and a very fair challenge.

Were they non-standard? I got 2 that I'm pretty sure were just incorrect.

Except for those hitches I did enjoy the puzzle though.

Clever puzzle and great fun - although my score doesn't indicate that! The last one really through me and I don't have a clue what it was about. Probably a generation gap thing again. When this puzzle closes I'll try to remember to ask about it. Good job on the puzzle.

I should have done better - but typed in a wrong letter & eyes had an issue - but I thought it was very good -

Good puzzle with good clues. Too bad I can't type -- two typos cost me several moves. My fault. Sigh.....

I'm happy to see the positive feedback so far. I'm not understanding about spelling errors. Will post entire puzzle after 7 and feedback would be much appreciated. bbear

I didn't understand any of it but I got my usual score. Thanks for your hard work, I know writing these aren't easy.

I got bounced after only guessing one letter. I did send a ticket so hopefully I will get to finish.

I really enjoyed this one. I didn't get any with errors and I thought it was beautifully put together and the clues were great.

BBear,
I had a lot of fun with your WP, thanks!

I ran into what I believe is a spelling error. Fortunately, it didn't hinder me in any way from solving the phrase.

But like I said, this was a great idea for a WP, and I enjoyed it.

I was in the first puzzle and got booted off with an error message saying I had already completed the puzzle. Put in a ticket, hope it gets reset in time for me to still do it.

bbear...I am sorry, but I had to delete your participation in your own puzzle. You were place well inside the Top 10. We suggested way back that if people participate in their own puzzle, they should purposely score 50 or more so their score is not knocking other people out of the Top 10.

I posted the points you should expect from the puzzle in your total, but they will not be reflected in the monthly WP total. Editors cannot adjust that column of points.

According to what I have read there were two spelling errors. Even with those I still enjoyed the puzzle.

I'm not sure about the spelling errors, I guess I didn't get those puzzles. I got hung up on one of them and it really cost me. Who cares? I had fun with it anyway! Good job and a fun puzzle.

I only saw a spelling variation, which was legitimate, but not the one I first chose.

Tough but well done quiz. Took me quite awhile to sort out the spelling for Henry's wifes but each was a legitimate variation. Very enjoyable

A couple of folks have asked for the whole puzzle. However, I can't find the stupid thing on my jump drive (old and decrepid). Sorry! As far as the troubles, was it hazzard? If you look on a map it has one z but on the show it had two. Please provide feedback about the troubles so we can work on them for our next puzzle. Thanks.

Hi Bbear,

This was a phrase I had where I think there was an error:

killer queen i was born to love you in only seven days fat bottom girls

According to Queen's album, Jazz, the last song in the phrase is entitled fat bottomed girls.

Could you tell us what your source was for fat bottom girls?

Otherwise, the rest of my phrases were fine, and again, a very enjoyable, clever WP!

You are SOOO right: it is bottomed. So sorry; we really did re-check everything. Source: wiki. Also had a mistake with "maniac monday" rather than manic monday. If we ever make another mistake you can smack me with a wet sploofus. bbear

Don't feel bad, we all make mistakes! I know I've made my share! Anyway, you did your best, double-checked everything, used what Sploofus accepts as an authoritative source for facts and wrote a really entertaining puzzle with an interesting theme. Looking at it that way, that's a nice accomplishment, don't you think? Your puzzles are great, Bbear, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

killer queen i was born to love you in only seven days fat bottom girls

This is the one that made absolutely no sense to me at all. As I suspected, it's the generation gap -- It was referring to a musical group I gather and probably from the 70s or later.

Other than that one, it was fun.

The two non-standard spellings were 'Kathryn' Howard and 'Katherine' Parr. Both, according to Wiki and Chambers Biographical Dictionary, were Catherine.

Kathryn howard has a huge number of web hits and some quasi authoritative references;
I got Parr right but probably more luck than judgment.....
I'd never seen KH spelled this way; but anyone who counted the squares left for Howard's first name would have known it was not what they expected....

Maniac Monday was corrected to Manic Monday early on in the run of the puzzle.

It was a very fun puzzle, all in all. Katherine/Catherine tripped me up. I thought it WAS bottom instead of bottomed (just listen to it! I know, moldygreen or whatever you call it). Anyway, it was a good WP, thanks for writing it!
