Since we are leaving for 8 days in the north country Sunday I am going to find the answer to my wife's question, "What the hell would you do without Sploofus?". I will, for the first time, leave my laptop at home and find out. She may be sorry she asked. TQOTD will be replaced by, "Where are we going today?", always multiple choice. The WP will be detour and road constuction signs. I will replace the forums with bar-room discussions on climate change, gas prices, Detroit Tigers and the best Pasties, etc. I just hope my recent bad luck of 8,000,000+ in Sploofus wagers doesn't carry over to the casino's.

My laptop is going to be repaired while i'm away, so i thought i would have to rely on the pressroom at the bridge tournament I'll be at for two weeks.
the first computer i worked on tossed me off the!!
but it has a built in lag on WP and WM...hooray!

The computer giveth and the computer taketh away.

Good luck. I have been up and over twice this in the past month with bus loads, and will be back up next week with another. I love a good pastie. My favorite spot is just passed the Cut River Gorge. There is a private owner motel on the lakeside of the highway (not that common, most building are on the other side of the highway) with a restaurant. I have stayed there 3-4 times. The restaurant serves a very good pastie. It also has a great view out over the lake, and it has a bunch of bird feeders that gather a wonderful variety of birds to watch eat while you eat.

Is that the place right across from the Cut River Inn? Never been there but the "Inn" has the best fried whitefish in the state according to the Detroit Freep and I agree. Another great Pastie is Bessies, on the north end of State St. (St Ignace) next door to the Days Inn. Best sports bar in the area is the Driftwood in St. Ignace. Tip: Don't insult the Red Wings in THAT place.

I cannot remember the name of the place, but after you pass the gorge it is not very far on the left. It is a motel and restaurant. There is a store and a couple other things across the street.

I think I have been to Bessie's. I had a Reuben in the Driftwood last time up. I was wearing my Red Wings shirt since it was off duty time.

Further out in Naubinway is Beaudoin's. It is decent. They are distant relative's on my mom's side.
