Can someone please tell me if I am missing something, but how is it at all possible for someone to complete WORDROUNDS in less than 15 seconds? I've seen ones as low as 5 seconds on the leaderboards. I know there are some of those who can read extremely fast, but come on....

The 5 second word round was mine and I'm convinced it was due to a fluke in the timing system as it was being adjusted recently to improve the page load times. I didn't earn that time to be sure.
The recent sub-20 second times are very attainable. You just need to scan the first few words of the question and take an educated guess and be very quick on your mouse button. Practice doesn't hurt either to get used to the initial position of the first answers (so you're ready to click) and to get used to a system of reading, clicking, scrolling....
Hope to see you on the leaderboards soon.

Sorry to disagree with groupw but as to 'very high sppeds being attainable' - it does help to have a good fast connection too. I can rarely get below 100 seconds no matter how fast I click as the page takes so long to load.
I am uncertain as to when timing starts but the other day I counted 23 seconds going in and 34 going out!
The advantage is I have time to pop to the loo or make a cuppa between rounds lol

I am visually impaired an the tip on scan / click / scroll is so true and I definatly got better scores after I started doing that.

Because of my eyesight and slow connection I just set my own goals. I try to get as close to the magic 100 secs as possible but if I get under 120 I am fairly pleased.

I'm not so sure that connection speed has a whole lot to do with it. At work we have dial up and I did a round in 28 seconds once, and that was before sploofus started subtracting the load times. At home with a cable modem I can still do as poorly as 40 seconds if I'm not careful.

I too was at my moms (dial up) and obtained a time of under 30sec. Now that Sploofus has adjusted the time system, I have been close to being under 20.
But I agree that scanning the questions is the sure bet to getting those fast times...
Takes some work, but it is doable..I dunno how Group can do it in under 15...(shakes head and bows to the wordRound GOD!)

My work hook-up is cable but my computer is older, but at home the computer is new with dial-up and the times are somewhat comparable. But I guess if your computer is older and you have dial-up then your times may not be so great. but the one thing that makes a difference is practice. It's all about rhythm

Ok...all of that makes sense. Thank-you for all of your input.

If you don't have a mouse with a scroll button you need to get one! That definitely improved my scores

I was gonna say "Get a wheelie-mouse" but I see Suzer beat me to it. That'un made a major difference for me, but even with Broadband and li'l wheelie-mouse I have not been able to break 27 seconds on W/R. That means I often don't make the Top Ten any more. More >>>

Hi all.. just to clarify.. if the load time is 10 seconds, and I complete a wordround in 30 seconds, does that mean that the whole time used was 40, or did I actually only spend 20?? Sheesh, now I'm even more confused! Can anyone make sense of this for me please??
