If you click on a name you can see these badges and holding your cursor over them shows how someone is doing in that subject.
What I want to know is: How do you get them in the first place? I started with one and ave 5 now - I have noticed some people have been here less time and have more but some have been here a long time and have hardly any.
Can someone please explain these things to me.

You get them when you answer the trivia questions of the day. If you reach a certain proficiency, you get a badge for that category. If you run your mouse over the badge, it will tell you the percentage correct you have attained for that category.

Sorry, I meant run you cursor over the badge. I have visions of people now running a mouse over the computer screen - lol!

Thanks for replying - I found a similar post on another thread that explained it too.
Still laughing abot 'roling the mouse over the screen'

It reminded me off my son's friend who is like an adopted son to me. He was raised by his Gran and very good at ringing to let her know if he was staying at our home.
One night he rang t say he was staying and asked her to shut down his computer. The conversation that followed was so funny - we all ended up in tears.
Here is a shortened version.
Chris: just put the mouse over the start button Nan.
Nab: But I want to turn it off not start it - it is already working.
Ghris: No just click the mouse on the start button
Nan: okay......... Nothing is happening.
Chris: You are double clicking aren't you?
Nan: yes, my arm is aching now though.
Chris: Your arm?
Nan: yeah I am getting tired holding the mouse on the screen!

That is a true story! (I would not have believed it if I had not been witness myself.

Yep, if you fall below 60% accurate in that category.
