Some of you will have seen the post on the
"Daddy's Day" thread from ROCCO. And some
like me will have assumed that, because he
was home from the hospital, Rocco was OK.
However - he was to have a procedure done
on Monday to find a blockage in his
Circulatory system.
Haven't heard from him since yesterday so
I don't know if he is back home, or if the
problem turned out to be more serious....
Does anyone have any news????
In the meantime my thoughts and prayers are
with Rocco and his son in this difficult time.
Hoping all is well and soon he'll be healthy
and back on the Island

Rocco, I do hope you're OK. It was great to see you post on Father's Day. Sounds like you've been going through another real tough patch and I do hope you're on the mend and back to good health soon. Thinking of you and Keagan and hoping you'll be well enough to enjoy summer together.

Both he and his son remain in my heart. Not sure why it seems to be that some folks have more than their share of troubles while others seem to "skate" through things-sure there must be a reason or purpose at least one would hope so-Linda

From the e-mail I received yesterday, I think the test is today, Tuesday. Don't know what time though. Even if you don't know Rocco, he's a fellow Islander who needs some prayers and good wishes, especially today as he undergoes the test.

Best of luck, Rocco, with your test. Hope you're back on the island soon. Trust in the miracle of modern medicine and your faith.

I believe that if it was a "simple"
blood clot, Rocco should be home very soon seemed to be a little more
serious because I think he said they
were putting the tube directly into
the Aorta, and he said he'd been in
and out of hospital for MONTHS....
So it could be real Heart Problems.
I know he was very worried about what
they'd find....and about Keagan

(((((((((((Thank all of you so very much. I am sorry I have been so quiet lately, but I have been in and out of hospital or ER so much in the past few months it has been hard. The many friends, and caring people here have already showed me so much compassion it is hard to ask for anything especially prayers since my faith seems to be letting me down a little these days.

So here is the results from todays cardio-cath. It appears I have some blockages or partial blockages that are un-mendable. There is either to little room for a stint, and the narrowed veins are to long for a by-pass which means I think that the blockage extends the whole length of the vein so no by-pass would be possible, it is not like fairly clear then a short area of blockage, and then clear again on the other side, the blockage is the entire length if that makes any sense.

So I now will add plavix to my growing list of meds. I am home at least after a 7 hour procedure, the actual cath part only took about an hour, but they have you lay flat on your back for 4 hours to let the hole in the artery clot properly, and then they walk you around a little bit, and watch for bleeding then they finally release you.

I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my not so perfect heart. Having neuropathy makes it hard to exercise thus probably the reason for a weakening heart, so must try to do a little more activity. For the many ot you I know may be worried about Keagan, I have made it so that my sister Faith will care for him should anything happen to me, and through all the troubles I have managed to keep a 50,000 dollar life insurance policy up to date. Not a lot these days, but it will help.

Well that is where I am in life to date. Still waiting on the disability, (almost 3 years now), and praying for better days with a waning faith. I will keep you updated as often as I can. Thank you Rowlanda for this post, and for your note, and thank you Pat, and Patty for your messages as well. Marilyn, and Vickie I am so sorry for the lack of communication lately, as I love you both dearly you are wonderful friends. I would love to hug each, and every one of the many people I cherish here on the Island so please accept this post as a giant hug from Keagan and I. If there are any Cardiologists on the island I am not gonna turn down a second opinion lol. Thank you all so much. As Always Rocco ))))))))

Good morning Rocco. We're all cheering for you so hope you can feel that support. Thank you for giving us an update on how things went because we were all concerned.

While you might welcome a second opinion from a cardiologist, I hope there might be some attorneys on the island who will send you a PM with perhaps some help on getting the disability in place. A former co-worker had a terrible time getting her disability. She ended up having to get a lawyer to help her. How do these people who abuse disability get on it and then those who really need it can't?

Please stay in touch. Your faith isn't waning; you are being hit with a tremendous amount of problems right now and your faith is being stretched to the limit. With all the friends and support you have on Sploofus, I think your prayers are being answered, but not in the way you would think. While your faith may be taxed, let our faith hold you up until you begin to feel better.

Hi Rocco....
So sorry the news isn't more encouraging, but thank you
for letting us know because we were very worried. And
it was really brought home to me....people can just
disappear off the Island, and we would never know why!!!!

I believe that you should start by contacting the Agency
dealing with your Disability Claim....Neuropathy is one
thing - but Diagnosed and Unfixable Heart problems are
entirely another....Please contact them ASAP, as they do
"back pay" and any delay could cost you....

I ended up getting a PARALEGAL (cheap) to contact the Claims
people and arrange for a Hearing. The pension started soon
after - accompanied by a BIG cheque for 3 years "waiting
period" (I had actually waited for 5 years!!!!)
Maybe you could "lightly" mention a possible LAWSUIT - if the
financial worries were to have a detrimental effect on your
diagnosed and serious Health concerns.

Many Good Wishes coming your way Rocco. May you soon have
Peace and Contentment in your troubled life....
Lots of Love from Rowlanda

There is an appeals system as part of the SSA's disability claim process. It is not terribly unusual for someone to end up taking it to court. However, that is a normal part of the process and it actually goes before an SSA judge with your own lawyer representing you on contingency. My husband had to go through this, but was successful in the end. You will receive backpay going back to the time your disability began, but a disability must be present for a 12 month period for it to be considered a permanent disability. (Unless things have changed in the 13 years since my husband and I went through this.)

I'm going to show your post to a couple of the docs at work tomorrow. I work in the cardiac ICU so maybe they'll have another opinion. Good luck.
