AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO...
prefers the old Sploofus format to the beta version? It's easier to read, and it doesn't keep popping out at you the way beta does. And I haven't found the new games nearly as interesting as the WR and WP. Most of the Who and Where entries are really obscure. I've tried to use beta, but I tend to shift back to the original. It's just plain easier to navigate. I wonder if others share this opinion.

I agree. I've stopped doing the word puzzle in beta because I hate the flaps dropping down constantly, and often not seeing all the words. I prefer the old my sploofus and getting a complete run-down on all my standings, and I guess I'm too old to get the who am I,or where am I in just 2 tiles.

2.0 does take some getting used to, like learning to avoid the pull-down menus with your cursor, but 2.0 is coming for all and 1.0 will eventually go away forever. If you hope to survive on the new island be sure to note your preferences for how things look and operate in the Bugs/Suggestions list. Justin is very good at incorporating the ideas of the membership.
Personally I like almost everything in 2.0 better (after I figured out how to navigate!); I especially like the new look of the WPs. And all your old favorite games are still here - you don't have to play WTHAI if it frustrates you. I know that Justin is working on the changes and improvements that will make it user friendly for all.

I like WR and WM better.
I love the WTHAI;
I'm neutral on Keplunk and trivia squares.
I have not risked TQOTD otr showdowns yet; will wait for other opinions.

I miss the "Sploofus Island" picture, and the names at the bottom of the screen of who is logged in. I also miss the search bar in the chat forums to look up a user's previous posts. If it is on Beta, I haven't found it.
I love the Who Am I and Where Am I pictures as the best part of Beta. I would really like to see "Name That Tune" come back, but don't know if that's possible. I usually have never known immediately who or where they are, but have won through a lot of searching, and I've always liked mysteries, and I guess that's why they appeal to me. I enjoy the Wordrounds, and I actually like the Wordpuzzle on Beta. I have never had the problem of the drop downs being intrusive. Don't know why. I guess I just don't have the mouse hovering in that area at an inappropriate time. I've been using Beta since it was available and actually find myself getting lost in the old Sploofus.

I haven't gone back, once I went to 2.0. But there are some things I really don't like, that Justin said he would fix. That was quite a while ago though. I like the new games, things seem faster here. Those drop down boxes across the top are DEADLY on TQOTD and other games. I HATE them. The new friends lists are cool but we are limited on the number we can have. Justin said he would increase those for platinum members, but.......
I do notice that since 2.0 opened up, you will see the shout go dead for hours. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we can't see who is on, at a glance. I won't go back to 1.0 but I do get disappointed when things stay unfixed for so long. I see the community aspect of sploofus dwindling a bit with 2.0 and I hope we can pull it back. Its really the reason some of us are here.

I notice the Trivia Games drop-down box is deadlier than the others. Maybe if it were changed to just be text like the Community and Leaderboard boxes and forget the graphics in the drop-down.
I go onto 1.0 to see the quizzes and who has taken what because it gives a more accurate count up to the minute than 2.0 where the numbers of quiz takers seem to be behind by quite a big number sometimes.

Seeing Players names at the bottom of the page
Larger type on the Shout
Compressed/sentences phrases in the WR/WM (makes it easier to scan)
Being able to tell when I've taken a quiz without having to check everyone individually
The page that displayed the most recent quizzes by category
The Leader by Level on the Leaderboard
Retaining a guess in WP after you guess incorrectly so you don't have to retype
Seeing where designated friends are on leaderboards/quiz results, etc.
Ability to upload more photos
Groups (wish they were more active)
Seeing the most recent posts on the BBS
Sploofus home page where you see snippets of almost everything at a glance, including Featured Player of the Day
(Ability to write WP - I realize this is not 2.0 specific, but just wanted to add to my "like" list anyway)

What Pepper & Lodi said, ditto
Also on WP, I sometimes type in my answer, then chicken out & decide to use one more letter. With my lousy typing & proofreading skills, I love that the answer stays. Excellent feature, Justin

In Beta, do you get to post more pictures?
I thought when I went Platinum I'd get to upload more than the 5 limit I had in Gold, but it hasn't changed. I see some with many more pictures.

Spoofizz says "2.0 is coming to all". So is 2009.
Again why is version 2.0 not open to Platinum players who show their support in a monetary way? Next Wednesday will be three months of Beta testing. Most of those are platinum members.
If may actually be beneficial and prudent to open the version up to a few at a time. Say platinum members, then gold members, then long term non paying members, then the rest rather than over 40,000 or more all at once.

The concept of beta testing is not privileged access for the haves. It is access to a few to work out the kinks and make sure the system is ready for everyone when it is open to everyone. I understand the frustration and impatience of you and others, but as long as the beta test continues, it means the system isn't ready.

I absolutely prefer 1.0 overall to 2.0 -- at least in the current incarnation of 2.0. It's ironic how many people are clamoring for 2.0 because I know I'm going to miss 1.0 when it's gone, unless 2.0 is changed far beyond fixing bugs.

There are some parts of the 1.0 that I miss...the biggest I guess is knowing which quizzes you have already taken. With 2.0 you have to go through them all to find one that you haven't. I also miss the names at the bottom of the page showing who is playing.
I'd like very much for the Island picture to come back also...When the bugs are all ironed out maybe 2.0 will be exactly the thing...if not I'd be happy to go back to 1.0. But I know it will be gone soon and I'll miss it....have a good one ya'all

I varied initially going back and forth between 2.0 & 1.0 - I only go back to 2.0 now to check if I'm in 1,2,3,4,5 or below on leader levels - I'd really like to see that added as a link to the leaders board - and hope it will be added when 1.0 is gone - for me it allows a checkpoint to see I'm in least in some place somewhere in the top 5
- and what I have to risk if I go below.
I like the WTH's - but again many are obscure - I'm constantly amazed at how so many of the same people always guess - I love the WP staying in as you type it out to work it out - I didn't like the new format at first - but I really like it now.
I agree about the drop downs screwing things up - happens on TQOTD and WR's & WM's -
It definitely seems to be less communal though in terms of the chatbox on wr's & even on bbs - but that may be a perspective.
I've found that I cannot upload additional pictures in IE - but can in firefox

I'm in 1. I always type what I can into the box and copy it, then guess my next letter, paste back in what I typed in the first place and fill in what I didn't have, plus anything I now know.
I mean, it's better than nothing. It CAN be done in 1. Plus, when you make a wrong guess (which I'm sure YOU guys don't do but I do all the time) all you have to do is type the first letter of your incorrect phrase and the entire phrase comes up again for more work.
Sounds complicated, but it snot.
