Is it just me, or when given the same choice twice in a question, I always pick the wrong one? For example, a quiz just completed had the same answer for choice #3 and #5. I picked #3 (I always pick the first one I see) and the answer was the right one but I got it wrong, as the correct answer should have been #5 (I guess). This is not the first time it has happened and the correct response is always the one I don't pick. I guess that's why I have yet to win the lottery. But on a serious (or semi-serious) note, shouldn't there be five different answers to choose from in a question?

The same thing has happened to me more than just a few times. I do not understand how the editors let this go. The only thing I can think of is maybe these are really old quizzes, and either there were no editors then, or they weren't very strict.

I get quizzes returned to me if I am missing a period.

What I don't understand is the use of the "report this quiz" button. I have used it to report quizzes that have 2 answers that are the same. But there is no where that you can write why you are reporting the quiz, and I have never seen a quiz that I have reported removed.

Of course, since we cannot see the questions after having taken the quiz, I cannot tell if they have been fixed. But my guess is that the reporting button mostly makes me feel good, and does nothing else.

Yes it is a rule that every trivia question must have 5 different legitimate answers. When you come across something like this, please report the quiz and/or submit a support ticket so that the offending quiz can be taken care of.

Many quizzes that were released pre-editors may have this issue, they are slowly but surely being taken care of.

I hate it when that happens! And when it does, I'll probably rate the quiz really low.

It's definitely not allowed, so if it's happening on newer quizzes, some editor missed something! I haven't seen it recently, but I used to see it all the time on the older quizzes.

Also, Bigbird, I agree with you: There ought to be a box to type a short note in when a quiz is reported.

Thanks, Count! What do you think of having a note box for when a quiz gets reported...?

I would like to write a note too, instead of just saying 'reported quiz'. We could say "look at question #5 and the same answers are there...or bad spelling..." I like that idea!

More times than not, the quiz with the repeated answer is from a new author who misunderstand the quiz wizard and puts the correct answer in the correct answer box and then thinks they still have to put it in the other boxes. Editors will catch that nowadays, but in pre-editor quizzes you will still occasionally run across that in a quiz. As for a quiz where it happens in just one or two questions, that is carelessness and you hope the editor catches it. Either way, I suggest sending a note to the author and reporting the quiz. If they fix it, then when it gets reviewed, the editor should not find any problems and leave it alone.

I have run across this same occurence in word rounds. Sometimes the same word is in there twice.

For some reason, when this happens in WordRoounds it seems that either choice is correct!

But if I find that in a quiz I report it AND send a note to the author alerting them to it.

I thought I read somewhere that a quiz needed to be reported a certain number of times before it was reviewed by Mr. Sploofus.

A quiz gets reviewed if it is reported 3 times, which is good. If a quiz "needs" to be reported, 3 is not a big number. But if someone just has a burr under their saddle, then time won't be wasted checking a good quiz. If you do report a quiz for something like double answers, send a note and give the author a chance to fix it.

It has happened to me a few times. I don't mean for it to happen and i appreciate when someone just sends me a note so I can fix it immediately!!

I have come across this on some new quizzes. After I rate the quiz I send a message to the author explaining any problem I have with it - inclucing answers I may disagree with, misleading question or answer choices. If I have time I do a quick search to find a site with proof to support my point.

Very politic mrsgc...I think that is the best way to handle name calling or hate mail, just a simple statement of facts with resources to back it up!
