KAELIN'S PALINDROMES

When this puzzle is over someone needs to explain one of those palindromes to me--I couldn't make any sense of it once I had figured it out. Otherwise, I enjoyed the puzzle!

PM me Lane - I've looked them over and am at a loss at which one it might be?

Tough format kicked my backside for points, but fun to figure out. Thanks K!

Fun puzzle, helpful clues (and those short phrases are killers, point-wise). Good job!

Great puzzle. Way too early in the morning for the brain to be working.

I did not get this one bit. I do not mind admitting I had no clue what was going on, but I do love trying to figure it out. Maybe I should not do them so early in the morning?

Doesn't matter if you don't know what a palindrome is, you can recognize Robert Downey Jr by a bit of lip hair, some nose pores and an eye booger. We all have our skills.

Really enjoyed 4 of 5. One made utterly no sense. It wasn't just a gramatic issue either. Didn't google and still did pretty well. Interestingly, one we tanked due to a very unusual thing....

I doubt googling would have helped as the clues were not taken from anything but my own head - and I will be more than happy after the puzzle is over to answer any issues or questions - my editor warned me that people will either love this or hate this - and I know that I gratefully got my first dose of palindromes from a puzzle from last year I believe from an innovative editor - so hats off to him/her - as it created a new love for me

This was one of my favorites but would have been way too long - so here is just for trivia

The year 2002 is a palindrome. So was the year 1991. Ho-Hum you say?
Did you realize the previous occurrence of two palindromic years in one person’s lifetime was the years 999 and 1001!
The next such pair will be 2992 and 3003. So this happens about once every 1000 years.

The next normal palindromic year will be 2112.

Universal Day of Symmetry
8:02 P.M. on Feb. 20, 2002 is a very unique time and date.

It may be written as 20:02, 20/02, 2002 (Canadian, South American, & European date format, 24 hour clock system).
Without the punctuation it becomes:
2002 2002 2002

which is three palindromic identical numbers in a row. It is also a palindromic sentence because the three numbers taken together are the same when reversed. A similar symmetric date and time happened was some years ago.
10:01 AM, on January 10, 1001, to be exact. write it 1001 1001 1001

Lots more related to numbers here - in case anyone wants to check it out

The Palindromes - one specifically was inspired by Smaug on the clue / phrase - won't be hard to guess

no lemons no melon ("where's the fruit?")
tessas in italy latin is asset ("dead language")
devil never even lived ("there is no Satan")
dogma i am god ("I believe")
eve damned eden mad eve ("she ate the apple")
live not on evil ("use powers for good")
madam in eden im adam ("I'm not Eve")
murder for a jar of red rum ("I'd kill for a drink") (this one was my favorite)
sad im midas ("golden touch")
never odd or even ("zero") (this was my second favorite)

I'm sure some don't care what my fav's were - but it was quite a challenge coming up with reasonable clues that would work - so many sentence palindromes are non-sensical - these all made sense to me although I see they didn't to a few -- so sorry - I had fun anyway

My rank in the puzzle was palindromic. And that's all that matters to me.

It doesn't matter to me if palindromic sentences make sense or not, I just think they're a lot of fun. Again, great WP! "Never odd or even" was one of my favorites as well, and boy did you come up with the perfect clue! For "No lemons no melon," I nearly typed in "no melons no lemon," but then said to myself, "Hmm ..." That phrase also has a similar rhythm to "No woman no cry," so then I started singing that song. Thanks again!

Thanks Geri & all - I really did try for the less nonsensical - and since Smaug probably didn't take the puzzle - I'll point out that the clue was a snap for this since he always says "If I could only use my powers for good" - I'm probably paraphrasing that wrong but if he happens to look - I'm sure he'll correct me.

live not on evil ("use powers for good")

Very clever and skillful use of palindromes Kaelin.
That had to be very tough to write ten puzzles- WTG

I enjoyed it- had to hurry - so a few careless moves- but all turned out well.

toot toot !
