To all of the individuals that have helped test the new Sploofus site, reporting errors as you found them, THANK YOU!

It is only with your help and suggestions that Sploofus v2.0 is now ready to be released to the public.

While there are still a few minor, lingering issues, they are relatively benign in scope and will be remedied in the days to come.

Again, thank you BETA TESTERS!

Justin (Mr. Sploofus)

Beta Testers: How about posting your advice and helpful suggestions for the general population, to help make their transition smooth!

My main suggestion would be regarding the whole look of 2.0: It is very different, so DON'T GET FRUSTRATED. Take your time to get to know the new layout and where you can find all (or most of) your old favorite things.

Anyone else have advice on how to survive the NEW island environment?

When 2.0 is released will there still be "old sploofus" available for a while?

Is there an expected launch date or time? Not that I'm eager or anything...

It will take you all some time to get adjusted to the new environment. Basically, practice makes perfect. There are many new drop down boxes and search boxes that are very helpful to use. Also, the MySploofus link and home link pretty much will take you to most of the links you need for your daily activities. Please! come check out the groups, I'm looking forward to these blossoming a little more than they have with so few Beta Testers. Welcome aboard everybody!!

I'm not a Beta tester, but I've seen and heard enough about 2.0 to suggest that the people who are new to 2.0, PLEASE think twice about creating a ton of support tickets and BBS threads that say "I HATE THE XXXXX" and "I MISS THE XXXXX" -- at least until enough time has gone by and everyone has the chance to get used to the new site.

Launching a new version is a major accomplishment (and a long time coming as we all know) so it would be nice to keep the negativity to a minimum, at least for a while.

Just my opinion of course. I suspect that Justin and the editors will be busy dealing with newly discovered bugs, now that the user base is about 40 thousand times larger than the beta test.

My hat is off to Justin and all those testers, editors, and programming assistants who made 2.0 ready for prime time!

Welcome to all! I did find Beta particularly frustrating when I first started (rather like going to the Supermarket and finding they've moved everything around - Grrr!) and made the mistake of reverting to old Sploof to do certain things for a while. I love the new games and things on Beta now and Word Puzzles are much faster. There are still a few things like reading PMs, the font size in 'The Shout' and 'Leaders by Level' which are better in old Sploof but I'm sure Justin will be working on our suggestions over the coming months.

Guess I agree with Sploofizz - stick with it! You'll learn to love it too!

Is the banner ad on the bottom of the page permanent?

You 1.0ers coming to 2.0, just make sure you use the hygienic paper toilet seat covers in the main Sploofus 2.0 lounge bathroom off the lobby.

Just trust me.

When you find something that irks you...and you will...don't just fire up a whiny forum post about it and bring everybody down. Look for the green ladybug in the upper right corner. If it's an actual bug you want to report, or just a suggestion for something you think would be better, there's a place for you to do that. First, check to see if anyone else has already made the same observation, so as not to dominate the rap with pointless repetition. I'm sure if your idea is worthwhile, Justin will recognize its worth and do his best to work it in. I'm sure he's not sitting there waiting for more suggestions right now, however. He's got absolute tons of stuff to do, and I think he intends to do everything he can to improve his site and make you like it more...but it takes a lot of time and work. Enjoy what we've got here, and celebrate the good stuff as it comes down, and....

Glad to have everybody coming to 2.0! It's not comfortable with most of our friends cut off from the good stuff, and I'm glad to hear we'll all be in the same boat soon. Or on the same island, I mean. Here, have a boat drink, with a little umbrella and a float of Bacardi 151.

Now, just to ignore my own advice, I've wondered about that banner ad too. I think my payment should be my part of supporting Sploofus, and seeing ads for other trivia sites is mildly annoying. Is there some explanation for how essential it is that this item be following me around my appointed rounds in Sploofus Island?

Thu, 26th Jun '08 7:57 PM

I agree about the banner. I'll have it removed shortly

Right now I am just getting the new ad placement together in various areas for the [non-paying users].

Thanks for your patience!

When o when, Master Justin????
Maybe a good idea would be to create a separate forum (outside of salty dog) just for discussion about 2.0???
Probably not a bad idea.

Commmmmmon I wanna play!

Speaking of the island, are we going to get our island back? Or will newcomers just have to wonder why we refer to the island? (and I'll blush if it's already up there and I just haven't noticed it!)

One of the continuing complaints with 2.0 is that it has not been as easy to keep in touch with one another. I think mainly because the list of online players at the bottom is gone (which is maybe coming back?!). Possibly another reason is because the site has been divided between the haves (2.0) and have-nots (1.0) and that will be cleared up when everyone is on the same page.

The one thing I have liked when you view the online players in 2.0 is all the information available -- when joined, their level and country. But that would be awkward to handle with everyone online in the listing as in 1.0, so something will have to be sacrificed probably.

Thanks, Justin, for the privilege of helping test the 2.0. It's been fun and I hope those who are going to be getting the 2.0 version soon will enjoy it. There are some really neat features.

I see a few references here to the bug at the top of the page -- and that is the place to report actual bugs (errors) and to make suggestions. But just remember that the reports and requests made by using the bug icon go straight to Justin and not to the editors. Reporting something with the bug is NOT a support ticket. You can still place a support request to our helpful editors -- you just have to use the "Help" link which is located at the BOTTOM of the page.
Hope that helps somebody.

You're welcome, Justin, and thank you for the opportunity, and it was such a relief when 2.0 became available after the anticipation of wondering what it would be. I do miss the "Island" picture at the top!

Welcome to all of those who have missed out on the Beta testing!

I love the Who The Heck Am I, and the Where the Heck Am I, and maybe in the future a "Name That Tune" feature again.

I love the Wordpuzzles in the 2.0, the Wordrounds and Wordmatches, the Ker-Blunk which is back and the Trivia Squares.

I also love the option of having more photos. One reason I have so many is I had to reset my computer to the factory settings and I saved my pictures in Sploofus.

I miss the names at the bottom of the screen of who is logged in.

I am wondering if I am missing the search bar in the Chat Forum where you are able to look up all the posts by one individual player. So far, I haven't found it, and am wondering if it will eventually be a feature as in the "Old" Sploofus. It really was nice when you wanted you look up something someone had posted.

Thank you Justin for your hard work, interest in the site and all of the new features! A person can sure spend a lot of time here on the Island.

Thanks Justin - I only wonder when Trivia Squares stats for dates & last taken will show up like the others - otherwise I can wait out the other minor bugs

Thanks for letting me participate in beta testing. I hope all Sploofusers will enjoy the new site. It takes a little time to get adjusted, but the new games are great, and there are plenty of folks to help with the transition.
