That's awesome. My cubicle co-worker and I actually had one of those jars because of a certain boss we had (at Flightsafety Int - can I say that? ha). One day after a meeting with that joyful boss, my co-worker came in, didn't say a word, but just went to the jar and started stuffing dollar bills in! ha

We always went to lunch on the money.

OK - that was funny. But this one is hilarious (in a completely different way). Amazing. I'm not sure I understand what it has to do with the lottery, but I love it!

Funny, but when it comes to advertising no-one beats the Dutch...

Um, this could be offensive on so many levels I wouldn't know where to start the disclaimer, so probably best if you don't watch it at all.
Unless you really, REALLY want to....

Love the lottery one; don't have a clue what it has to do with the lottery, but what a great commerical.

Why are there flightless birds? What's the point?

Haydn: Cos they're making THEIR dreams come true....?

I thought it was a lovely commercial and my husband and I dissolved into belly-laughs when the Emu was led from the truck...

Yea, but isn't a flightless bird rather like a legless spider or a spinless wonder? I agree, Haydn, what's the point?

oh DUH.

I'm usually not quite so concrete...really!

Now, to answer your question: Flightless birds evolved from specific traits inherent in each species which furthered their success: Emus or Ostriches became heavier and faster, because this helped them to survive in their specific environments. Adding extra wing span sufficient to enable flight would have made them top heavy and ungainly. They would have been targets on land AND in air. Penguins, evolving in remote aquatic areas would have expended all of their energy flying to other locations for food, so their specific traits enabled them to be sleek and fast under water....

Wait, didn't I say I wasn't usually concrete?

I loved the flightless birds commercial. There was something really touching about it, while still being funny.

Now if I could just get some really smart people to spend some time with my two new really stupid dogs......

Did you see that this one ("Swear Jar") was nominated for an Emmy? The others were the FedEx carrier pigeon spot, the Coke ad with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloons, the Travelers spot with the enormous red umbrella, and the Hallmark ad featuring the foot-in-mouth brother of the bride.
