UPLOADING AVATARS?

Are there any issues I should know about uploading avatars with IE?

It is a small jpg file, but I've been unable to upload it....can anyone help?

I think the individualized avatars are a privilege of Platinum membership.

Oops, sorry! The first time I checked your page your platinum status didn't show up. I hope someone more knowledgeable is able to help you. (I am not worthy.......I am not worthy........ )

If you choose from the avatar library then you no longer have the ability to upload your own pic. Its a glitch in the system that has already been reported to the bugs/enhancement lists.

If you are platinum and install Firefox (which is free) you should be able to upload your own avatar successfully. Currently avatar upload is working for the Firefox browser only. After you upload your avatar, you can stop using Firefox and go back to the browser you prefer.

TIP: When installing Firefox, it will give you a dialog that asks if Firefox should become the default browser; be sure to say no, if you want to go back to your original browser. Also it is NOT necessary to import your favorites and other files when installing Firefox, this is another dialog you can say No to, if you don't plan to stay on Firefox.

My avatar came with me - I didn't need to find a new one.

Just be aware that while the avatars upload really quickly, they sometimes take days to go into effect. The last time I changed mine, it showed up 1 day later at the very top of the pages, but took 3 days to change in Salty Dog.

I use Firefox all the time - for everything - and even tho I changed my avatar, it took hours for it to change in the chat rooms, etc.

I tried to upload a photo and it didn't work because it switched over to the beta.sploofus address when uploading.

Kimoira, I got the same error message about Beta, after my upload finished, but the upload was successful for me. If your image is a Jpeg and not too big, it should work, even if you get this error message rather than a "Upload completed" screen.

I have reported the Beta error message as a Bug report.

Thank you, Dave!

Firefox worked...mission accomplished!
