Geri, this was an interesting WP but I really didn't do very well. You painted lots of nice images with your phrases, but it took me a while to get there!

Good job by you, bad job by me! Ha!

(FYI to everyone else: Geri's Sploofus player name is "tresgatos" which I guess didn't fit in the WP title.....)

Are you sure it wasn't Saturday in the park?
I think it was the fourth of July.
Might have been Chicago.
Anyway, what a nice day, enjoyed the WP, thanks a lot!

Nice job, Geri, good clues, I guessed wrong on three and got the annoying! All in all an enjoyable puzzle to solve!

Good puzzle Geri
Reminds me of when I was a child
and went to the park on Sunday....
Toronto has only a couple of parks
that are so large and diverse

A wonderful puzzle! Geri used examples that most everyone can relate.

This is a very fun puzzle - I was very frustrated because about 15% of my squares didn't show up and caused me to lose about 12 points on one puzzle and 18 total - put in a ticket -

Sorry to hear some sort of glitches messed up the WP for you!

To everyone else, thank you for taking my WP, and thanks for all the nice comments! I grew up in San Diego, and my family and I often went to "the nation's largest urban cultural park," Balboa Park, on weekends. With the images in my WP, I hope I was able to tap into some common experiences. Thanks again!

Good Wp Geri No parks around here quite like that (I'm so deprived here on central Vancouver Island, just some lovely nature walks) but no problem getting the drift Beacon Hill in Victoria & Stanley Park in Vancouver are both beautiful if you're traveling this way. Don't forget fellow Sploofusers if you are coming here, contact me, I'd be happy to show you the sights

Thanks, Randy!

Anyway, for anyone interested, here are all my clues and phrases:

Here come the birds! - spunky sparrows invite themselves to a family picnic
Too pretty to eat? - blue ribbons adorn homemade pies cakes and cookies
Look! A wishing well! - no one can resist walking by without tossing in a penny
Look at all the hats! - a street vendor offers everything from baseball caps to sunbonnets
Is it Pinocchio? - marionettes in a miniature theater captivate a crowd
It's a revolving jungle! - giraffes tigers lions and zebras beckon from a carousel
What a happy dog! - a little terrier has a tail that never stops wagging
Look! Silly monsters! - children pretend to be zombies wayward robots and alien invaders
It's flying away! - a girl watches as her balloon becomes a dot among the clouds
What a dazzling bouquet! - purple yellow and red flowers cover an old mans canvas

While I really enjoyed writing the WP, in retrospect, I probably used too many words in general in the phrases and words with letters that don't appear all that often, such as "z" and "k," so my apologies to anyone who felt frustrated. I know of at least one person who got tripped up by "zombies," and then needed a zombie cocktail after finishing the WP.

Anyway, I'm sure everyone picked up on the link between the title of my WP and Sondheim's musical, "Sunday in the Park with George." Well, as I was writing my WP, aside from drawing on personal experience, I also tried to imagine what Georges Seurat might focus on if he were in Balboa Park around 1971 instead of on the Island of La Grande Jatte in Paris in 1884. Also, the word "dot" in phrase nine is a (probably too obscure) tip of the hat to Seurat's pointillism and Sondheim's character, Dot, from the musical.

For my next WP, I plan to torture you all with very short phrases. Nah, just kidding.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank my editor, Sploofinder, for giving me comments and suggestions that were truly helpful!
