Someone referred to this problem in another thread
however....does anyone know why my fairly new
computer - using Vista,
- doesn't seem to like any pics except .JPEG ( especially hates .pps)
- goes berserk when I use Firefox instead of Explorer
- wont let me e-mail downloads to Hotmail address
- wants me to use Windows Live instead of Hotmail that I'm accustomed to

Is there some software I need????
(Please don't anyone suggest XP)

I hope someone gives you a good answer. I have been putting off getting a new computer because they all come preloaded with Vista. And I have yet to hear ANY good things about Vista. (Maybe Microsoft needed some good Beta testers.)

I'm interested in someone who knows, too, Rowlanda. All I've heard is that VISTA is very tight about security (maybe a controlling personality???) and makes you jump through hoops before you can do anything.

I have Vista and thus far, I don't have any complaints. Of course, let me add that I am technically challenged.....I do like the security because I lost a computer to viruses once. I also have Norton. I can't add pictures to Sploofus like I once did but then that does not impact me much either. Hmmm, I have been absolutely no help.

Too bad you didn't live closer to me , Rowlanda. For $200.00 American, I can get you a rebuilt computer like I use. I know a guy that soups these things up. This is a legitimate business and this guy is good. I have four of these things in my house for the last three years and only one problem, once (virus from U-Tube). You really shouldn't have any problem with Explorer or Firefox, I prefer Explorer. Is Canadian telphone the same as AT & T ?? Maybe that's your problem.

I've had Vista about a year and use Firefox, which I love. So far, I haven't had any problems, but you have to be alert when you download something that it states it for Vista, and not just XP. Don't know if Mitchy will read any of this or not, but she is pretty much a computer buff. I think it's her job.

I use Vista and Firefox and don't have any problems. It will take all types of pictures including jpegs. I DO have a problem with hotmail and solved it by using to instead. What I did so as to not have to change my email address, was to load the hotmail account and then put it on "forward all mail to ...", so I only have to check my gmail account. I don't remember what other problems you mentioned.

With all respects to Mitchy, who help is appreciated and may well be proven to be right I still feel this computer loaded with Vista has kept me from getting even a chance at a gem. Now using firefox. As far as Sploofus is concerned Vista has not been a problem. Anyone out there who has gotten a gem while using Vista?

I don't even have Vista and have been having so many problems with the whole Office Suite lately that I'm about ready to chuck this thing out the window. When I do get around to getting a new one, Suzer, do you recommend a Mac?

Thanks to you all for your comments and suggestions....
(even the ones that remind me of how silly I was to buy
this Freaking Computer)
Do you know....I should have thought about it when my
all-in-one printer wouldn't work with Vista....and I had to
immediately buy another "compatible" printer
