This happens to me every day. It must be happening to others as well since I saw a Bug Report on it when going to report it. The Editors have said they can't do anything about it other reset the wordpuzzle, but it still happens with a new wordpuzzle. Is anyone else having this problem, and do any of you know a solution?

[15.058] two letters are recognized with one click, usually resulting in loss of points

Wow - I've never seen that problem. Maybe it's a screen size/resolution thing. Do you have an option to make your browser page have bigger or smaller letters? I think there is an option on you Account page to have bigger letters in Sploofus - I chose the 2nd to largest, but they don't look all that large to me!

This happens to me, too. Not knowing much about computer clicking mechanics, I have started single clicking, then moving my mouse away from the letters very quickly has worked for the most part, and may help temporarily.

I have discovered it take a really steady hand. Hate hitting the q when I want a p!! However, I find whenever it happens it is totally my own fault and not the fault of the system.

I've had this happen as well, Marilyn. I DO believe it is a bug, and not a result of me double clicking. A couple of weeks back, it was happening quite frequently, but lately no problems.

I agree, I think its a bug, but have noticed that moving the cursor immediately after clicking has reduced the occurrences. At least for me,

I solved this issue by changing my settings
Go to the bottom and set your font sizes larger - especially if you have a smaller screen resolution - with letters like an i or an l the space is very small and when you click the mouse it will "jump" for lack of a better word.

It will not affect the other websites you visit and it solved the issue for me of picking up the wrong/extra letter

Another way to solve it is to hit control and the plus key at the same time. That will enlarge everything on your screen. I use that for word rounds and it helps. Alternatively, you can hit control and the minus sign to make things smaller again.

Thanks to all of you who responded with your input and suggestions. I will try all of them, and if anyone else has any suggestions, I will try them. I may never be in the top 10, but I keep struggling to keep my points and lessen my moves. While this was happening, it was a losing battle.

Hi Lorri. As far as I know the facility to change the font size is still not working - the last bug report (not mine) is as follows:

Change text size

I've tried various times (it's 10:45 p.m. Sploofus time Sunday, March 30) to get the text size to change from medium to large and larger. I save the changes and navigate to other places, but the type size remains the same.

UPDATES: This has not been propagated across all styles -- should probably remove from settings page until used.

I have tried it in both IE and Firefox tonight and still no change to text size and setting not stored. I am looking forward to using it someday.

I use firefox, hitting "Ctrl" and "+" worked for enlarging. Thanks for the advice!

I tried the Cntrl + to enlarge the screen, and also changed settings to large, but last night when I did the Wordpuzzle, I was still getting "J" when I clicked "I" and a few others added also. Sure does get frustrating, but thanks to all of you for your suggestions and help!

WOW! What is it again that you do to enlarge? Oh. The screen. Never mind.

This is for anyone else who may have this problem. This is the first time in a while I've made it through a wordpuzzle keeping my 5,000 points. I had tried all of the suggestions, but I was still losing points, due to my clicking the letter of my choice, only to have the letter to the right chosen for me automatically. Sometimes it was correct and sometimes it wasn't. It cost me moves, and sometimes points and moves both.

The one thing different I have done is set the double click speed on the mouse to the fastest speed. I think it sounds backwards, but I searched it in Google and found this suggestion. Hope this may help someone else if they have the problem as it is very frustrating. Thanks again to all who responded.
