I put in a request for a Group about 10 years ago, and despite the fact that it says you'll hear within 24 hours, I've never heard back. If you do not want to allow my group, that's fine. But being ignored kinda sucks.

What's the dill, pickle?

I'm sorry, but Editorville celebrates its Independence on the 10th of every month, and with all that drinking nobody gets any work done.

(Editorville - you totally cracked me up!)

Honestly though, I have no idea - There may only be one editor who oversees these, and it isn't me. Or it might have to be Justin himself. Or it's an automatic computer thing and your request is lost in cyberspace. Please hit HELP and send in a support ticket telling us the name of your missing group and we will hunt for the problem.

This is helpful, as I also submitted a request for a new group, and I wondered why it never showed up, as I thought it met all the guidelines. I did notice, though, that when you suggest a new group it doesn't say you'll receive a PM informing you whether your group has been approved or not. It just says, "Your suggested group will be activated within 24 hours if it is family friendly, and not too similar to an existing group." The group I suggested was definitely family friendly, and from my perspective not too similar to an existing group.

At any rate, Lodi, I appreciate you starting this thread, and Sploofizz, thanks for the response! I'll send in a support ticket as well to try to get clarification.

For what it's worth- I put in a request for a new group and it came through right away. Although it is a lonely little girl with only 2 people in it.

There are currently several problems in Group-land and I am not sure what Justin's priority is for this. I do know that folks keep quitting and joining various groups only to find those changes didn't stick.

There could also be a problem if you try to start a group but already joined 5, since you are automatically a member of your new group, but you cannot be in more than 5.

I will do what I can to get Justin to pay some attention to this.

Why on earth are we limited to only 5 groups?

Because we have to work sometime?

I'm wondering, what's the rationale for being limited to only five groups? I'm going to put in an enhancement request to increase the number you can belong to.

Right now, participation in the groups I belong to has been minimal, but people are still adjusting to 2.0, and I think people are still relying on Salty Dog and perhaps Trivial Tangents to talk about all sorts of topics they might otherwise choose to discuss in a group.

I find the concept of groups very interesting. Even if I'm not an active participant of a particular group, I'd likely enjoy reading and learning from the posts in a group's forum. I already belong to five groups and could see myself belonging to many more because I have so many interests.

I've been neglecting my groups. Sorry, groups. I'll do better.

I had asked for a special group for Death Float 08. Every time I bring it up in the chats, it gets buried before everyone who is coming can read & respond to it. Plus, I know that not everyone here in Sploofus is interested in reading a thread about which hotel we are staying and what kind of refreshments everyone wants. I thought a special group place would be perfect. Later, we can all post photos of the float there to share with each other and rehash the fun we had, without bothering everyone else.

Plus, I'm sure there will be incidents that we prefer not to share with everybody.

Anyhoo, we are getting close to countdown time so it would be nice to get the info to everyone without sending it individually.

I think it would be nice for Lodi's Deathfloat to get grouped asap.

Lodi - are you saying that if we don't come - we can't be in the group? SIGH

Speaking of Death Float, can you email me back my itinerary? I can't find it and I don't want to miss my flight. Yes, I'm an idiot.

Anybody could be in the group. Honorary floatees. But everything I post on it gets buried within a few hours so.....

MB, I swear I'm going to have to have them pin a note to your shirt in order for you to fly here.

I tried to request a group and it wouldn't even complete the request process. I kept getting an error. I went to report it as a bug, but it had already been reported. Wish they'd fix it.

Yeah, I put in a request to start Smaug's World of Sexual Entendres So We Don't have To Employ Wimpy Double Entendre's And The Nannies Can't Say We are Perverting the Main Board Group?

Lodi, is the group about leather clothing that you were talking about? Where's my socks?

EBJ: Where's Idaho???

I don't wear leather in summer, Felix. duh. The socks have been added to my trophy case. Next to a pair of bright blue boxers, a cell phone, a cowboy hat, and a lock of Smaug's back hair.

Idaho - where good friends meet to float lazily down a river so clear you can see the fish swimming on the bottom, and then later frolic nekkid in the moonlight on the beach.

Or so I've heard.
