I'm sitting here with my chin on the floor at the news of Brett Favre's reunretirement. Should he just get a clue about when to hang it up, or has he earned the right to play as long as he wants to? Inquiring minds want to know.

I keep thinking of Steve Carlton.

I am thinking more of Muhammad Ali -- don't quit until you are battered into a physical wreck.

I don't care how long he plays as long as I don't have to watch him slobber all over the podium next time he retires

Another case in point: the semiunretired Mark Martin's decision to make another run for a Cup.

He should have waited to retire 'til the after the first preseason game - after he got pounded and lost. He has zero credibility now and I couldn't care less about the Packers this year. I rooted for them last year but now Brett's screwed up the whole offense they worked on for Aaron, and training camp will really suck for them both. Nuffs enough

Anybody remember how bad Willie Mays looked when he wouldn't hang'em up.

He could come to the Falcons and it wouldn't matter. He'd be knocked back into retirement on the first set of downs.

I read somewhere that the Tampa Bay Bucs are interested in him. I guess they're looking for a QB with more experience than what they have. He started playing in '91, and Jeff Garcia's only been at it since '94.

I was kinda hoping the Falcons would try for Charlie Whitehurst. Hometown boy, lots of regional recognition, and after Texas Tech pounded him into a mudpuddle in 2002, he'd be mentally prepared to play behind the Falcons' front line.

I thought he was looking to get released from Green Bay. At least that's the news from ESPN. It sure looks like the Buccaneers and the Ravens might show an interest in him. That's from some NFC and AFC sports blogs. I don't see him knuckling under to the back-up position, he never had to do that.
He's a future hall of famer, he should go out playing well not limping and looking like a wallflower. It looks like his emotions have him by the short hairs.
I'm a mad Giants fan but I've always like Favre. He's a gentleman and a great QB. He should try coaching or color commentary on TV.

Having to spend 17 consecutive winters in Green Bay Wisconsin has affected the poor guys mind.

Maybe he can play half a season a la Roger Clemens.

Then he could suit up for the Lions. They play 8 games and quit.

After listening to his interview, I'm not sure someone didn't speak with forked tongue. Observing Green Bay people trying to act like they know football, the one thing they do have is loyalty to their players. A little reference to Mr.Farve, look what the Bears did with Jim McMahon. One last thing #4, if you're not going to style a beard, why walk around looking like you are afraid of a razor, not a cool look.
