Hello Gang!

We're doing a theme unit on the Olympics and will be doing an opening ceremony. I'm wondering if any of you are more creative than I am and can think of some ways to make the parade of athletes interesting?

Thanks in advance

Is this a class project?

How fun! The first thing I thought of, being a history teacher, was to have students research the country they will represent and make a flag for the ceremony. Someone could be the announcer and introduce each "country" and its "team" as they enter the "stadium." This could be really fun if you go all out like the Olympics do - in the gym with all your classes, a torch.

Afterward, I would probably use the Olympics as a springboard to talk about politics. Olympics that have been boycotted, protested, demonstrated in - Hitler vs. Jesse Owens, Munich, the raised black fists, questions about this year's and should we even be going, etc.

Be sure to let us know how things go.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's not mine. I just wanted a pic with a duck.
