PERPETUAL WTHAI DOUBLE WIN CONGRATULATIONS THREAD

I know you get a lot of points for figuring out the WTHAIs, but I think those double wins are pretty phenomenal and deserve some bling or at least some kudos in a thread like this. So, congratulations to our latest double winner -- Pepperdoc!

I think Larrybus had a double win that I neglected to congratulate him for, so belated congratulations, Larry! And anyone else that I've missed -- cheers to you!

Could one of you give me some telepathic solving tips?

I agree, Geri! Congratulations to Pepperdoc and Larry! Double wins are hard to come by. Also, congratulations to all of the other winners. These are fun to solve, but require a lot of searching and hard work at times. I admire anyone who is able to come up with the answers.

Thanks, Geri and Marilyn! And congratulations to Pepperdoc on her double yesterday!

Also to Smoke and Slicko, who've each had more than their fair share of doubles!

Already PM'd Pepper, but many Congrats to all who get those doubles - I'm afraid the majority of the 'Who's are beyond me! Great work Pepper, Larry, Donna, Gary etc!

Thanks! Congrats to all the Two-Fers - Slick, Smoke, Larry, and Nelly who gets on a Where hot streak like nobody's beeswax.
(For me, being online at the right time when a key tile is removed or clue given is very helpful.) Going out of town this weekend so had to get in a last huzzah before I go cold turkey.

I was doing alright on these things before the floodgates opened (2.0). Now, most of them don't reveal enough tiles for me before their solved. That, and I started getting tired of googling/wiki-ing.

If I'm understanding your post correctly, Smoke, then I agree, I think everyone who wins a WTHAI should get an achievement graphic in their profile. If there's not already an enhancement request about this, I'll put one in.

Some kind of bling in one's profile for WTHAIs would be great! Likewise for Word Puzzles, both for takers and writers.

Ok, I'm going to hijack this thread just for a bit...my apologies...us non-paying, low-life losers, are not allowed to start threads anymore...

Anyway, who was the guy in the WTHAI with the bank of america sign behind him? I can't seem to find who won that one. It seems to have just disappeared. It went from Helen Mirren (I think) to Lemony Snicket, and I don't recall Mr. Snicket being a Bank of America guy...I could be wrong. Did I miss something?

Lemmony Snicket is a pen name for Daniel Handler .. the man in the picture. I wouldn't have gotten either name.

Note.. if you click on the hyperlink (highlighted link) it will take you to the wiki page for the answer

1) Congrats to all the 2-fers!

2) Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler was indeed the gentleman in front of the Bank of America sign/backdrop. In the whole photo he has a bow tie on so I presume he's in a tux at some kind of red carpet event.

Taoman figured out Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket. Taoman is a new member and works in a public library. Watch out!

Faino, If pepperdoc is going away that should give us a better chance to win. Personally I think all these people that have double wins while that is unbelievable, should be given a mandatory sabbatical from WTHAI"s to give no-hopers like me the tiniest whiff of a hint of a jot of a tittle of a chance. I would have needed 15 million guesses to get Lemony Snicket!

Only recently has Daniel Handler/Lemony Snicket's picture been available. Formerly, only his back was visible in photos. He wanted to be a mysterious author who wrote depressing books about three supposedly-orphaned children.

Thanks all. I just figured Lemony Snicket would have no reason to be in front a BofA sign, but a red carpet event makes sense.

The bank was probably there to repossess the carpet.

No, they were there to repossess the bow tie.

Although he sounds like a drag, Lemony Snickets' series of books are quite a good read - adult or children - full of humour and "getting" the adults.

Larry, you are awesome! What do we call getting FOUR WTHAIs in a row? Truly amazing. I'm also so glad you put me out of my misery. I had been hunting off and on for several hours. At least I was correct in deducing that the Where was in the Mediterranean.

Doesn't the title of this thread that mean that I have to maintain a perpetual WTHAI double win?

Congratulations to Kateatebate for solving two very interesting WhoTHAIs in a row -- the goofy-looking, candy bar-toting Marathon John, and Man Ray!

Congratulations also to Marilyn (Uclonewolf3) for solving three WhereTHAIs, including two stumpers, (The Rez and Malacca) in the last three days!

Any hints. I have no clue as to how you all get those random people and places. Do you all just do a great deal of googling?

Thanks, Geri! Yes, Taco, it's a whole lot of Googling and Wikipedia searching too! Sometimes you can search forever and not find it! Sometimes you get lucky!

Congratulations to Slicko for his recent double win, getting Bete Giyorgis Ethiopia and Guglielmo Marconi! Add to that his solving the Great Zimbabwe National Monument, and it's a trio. Way to go!
