Hi, Marilyn (aka Glyders),

You got me -- what are sugar gliders? I've heard of all kinds of pets, don't think I've ever heard of that one!

What about your fish tank(s)? I have both fresh and salt water tanks. I need to work on both of them. I was hospitalized for three months last winter/spring and they took a beating while I was gone. Almost all the plants in my fresh water tank died (or were eaten by my giant upside down catfish). And the plants and corals, live rock in the salt water tanks didn't fare any better. It's my chance to "redecorate" I guess.

Hi Dana. Sugar Gliders are a small marsupial from Australia. Kind of remind me of a flying squirrel. I'm not sure how long they live in captivity but I've had mine for 11 years now. I found my first one, a male we named squiggy, at a pet shop. They had sold off his mate and their baby, leaving him all alone. I had heard that without a companion they would die of loneliness and I was NOT leaving that store without him! We were lucky enough to find a young female for sale locally soon after we got Squiggy. That solved the loneliness problem. They are more of a high maintenance pet (fresh fruits and veggies daily) so you have to be prepared to make that commitment when you get one. I do more food prep for their meals than I do my own! Lol. I've really enjoyed having them as pets. We also have a 50 gallon fresh water aquarium, with an assortment of fish in it. My BF takes care of them. We would love to have a salt water tank but aren't quite ready to take on the responsibility. Maybe when the chicks are grown and not so much work! Being a pet lover is a lot of hard work!! Marilyn
