Great puzzle. What had me most stumped, once I figured out the movie, was the verb used. I never realized there were so many variations of words for saying something. I had to stare at the incomplete word for quite a while, adding combinations of remaining letters in my head. Now I'm exhausted. I've had my mental exercise fot the day!

I agree. I got the quote and the film really quickly (surprising, since I see almost no movies) but it was that one little word...

Yes Sploofette - that was a very tricky twist you added in by having such a variety of verbs! Excellent puzzle!

The verbs decimated me...and then I typed a word wrong.

But my logophilia was sated and I enjoyed the challenge.

I need a designated typist. The verbs made the puzzle, for sure...but learning to type...well, that's a different story.

Oh, Noncentz, you're just holding back so people don't accuse you of cheating.

(*KIDDING* In case it wasn't obvious...)

Its these kinds of word puzzles that make me long for the days where we got points for every correct letter. That puzzle would have been worth a lot! But yes, I love these word puzzles. We have had a string of great word puzzles lately. And when I say great, I mean ones that I like, aren't so difficult that I could never figure them out, and make me smile. I like the puzzles that have a lot of letters in it because I'm less likely to guess incorrect letters. However, I'm more likely to type it wrong once I figure out the answer. How does that one song go? I'm a hazard to myself?

I'm generally not a quitter, but the verb thing just drained all the fun out of it for me. I didn't continue after I finally figured out the verb in the first puzzle (nine moves after I'd figured out all the rest of it).

I love the puzzles that incorporate wordplay, but I also love movie quotes, and I was looking forward to a puzzle about movie quotes. It seemed like the puzzle ended up being not so much 'guess the movie quote' as 'guess the synonym'.

I'm guessing it was made that way to make it more challenging (check!=) but I'd think there was enough challenge in just having to figure out the other three elements!

I'd love either of the two puzzles ('movie quotes' and 'know your thesaurus entries') separately. Any chance they could be 2 differrent puzzles next time?

Those verbs weren't synonyms, Pafork, they were another kind of -nym...To find out which kind, take my "Are You Nymble?" quiz (*shameless plug*).

(Sploof, we need an emoticon for "*shameless plug*".)

I got #1 at four minutes to 8:00. I had fun figuring out the connecting words too. But if anyone wants to: Let the accusations begin!

I don't know what all 10 verbs were but SOME of them are synonyms...or are in some instances...

Despite your SHAMELESS plug (redbaron ==> )
I will nevertheless take the bait as I cannot think of what word you mean. Also because I just made what seems to be about the 40,000th payment on a sadly unused linguistics degree, and if I can do well on your quiz, I'll finally feel it was all time & money well spent.

That's the second time I've suddenly grown a...trio...of balls. I haven't even gotten my Yoda yet! Very odd...

The verbs were something else! My husband and I would have the quotes figured out fairly quickly, but the verbs would kill us. Still was a lot of fun though.
