I hope that the new system is a keeper!

Quizzes are reviewed by an odd-numbered panel of editors prior to being published online. The quiz is checked for spelling, eligibility guidelines, and cross referenced on Google and other trivia web sites to check for plagiarism.

Each editor then votes on the quiz with a "yea" or a "nay". Quizzes with more yeas than nays are published.

I had a few ideas for quizzes over the past few days. Unfortunately I didn't write them down and --poof!-- I have no idea what those ideas were anymore. :D

Did you delete any of the existing quizzes? Were they checked? Or are you starting the new editing from today?
Just had these questions.

YAY! I am so happy that I can write quizzes again. I just tried out the new system and I do like it.

I'm glad authoring is back!!! I just authored my first quiz after the change and the process was pretty easy. I am also impressed by how fast my quiz was reviewed and placed online.

You mean you submitted the quiz and it was instantly approved. Does that make you wonder how well it is "VIEWED"????? How can they do it so fast, or maybe it did take a little while. We haven't authored any yet, so can't say.

Could I ask Sploofus if checking will include whether quiz descriptions will explain any national bias in the quiz?
If 'international' intentions are genuine, could not this proviso be included in the quiz writing guidelines?

I just submitted 2 quizzes over an hour ago and they are both still pending...if anyone got thier's approved instantly it make me wonder if they are checking them as closely as they should....I wonder how many people they have checking these quizzes?

I hope I didn't mislead anyone with my earlier entry. I said that I was surprised at how fast it was appoved. I never said that it was instantly approved. After I submitted my quiz, I left the site for about an hour. When I came back, it was approved and posted. So, really, I don't know how long it took. I just know it took less than an hour. On top of that, when I submitted my quiz, I don't think a lot of people knew authoring was back. The editors might not have had as many quizzes to review as they have now that everyone knows.

I have noticed that since my "The Grudge" quiz was posted, they have only posted 2 more quizzes. I think that's a bit odd, since my was posted around 7 pm Central last night.

Oh well, maybe there is an explanation of it that Sploofus has already address. I'm going to check the rest of the chat threads. I might be freaking out over nothing.

I worked as an editor for 5 years, and I am not sure we needed to swing the pendulum so far the other way that we will have a staff reviewing each quiz and then voting on it. Seem a like too corporate board room/govt. bureacratic red tapish to me. I should think 1, 2 at the most people could handle a category, and barring incident, be given the autocracy to expedite the process.

1 is an odd number. Maybe it is only one.
