AT&T SUCKS OUR OWN THREAD

I gave had no problem with my cingular service...yet. When "they" bought SBC there went my internet provider. I have a unique problem (among others)...I have fiber optics to the curb.....the only frigging place in the United States. I do NOT feel special. Consequently, I have to have a different modem. The one from SBC worked perfectly fine....I was ALWAYS connected. Not a problem. Then they tell me that the modem will no longer be able to be used because they can no longer provide support for it....but my oh my....do they have a deal for me. For what I had been paying SBC $50 for, they will give me a fast dsl for only $17. The kicker here being that the son of a bitch has never really worked. It drops the connection all the time....then my computer cannot "find" it. I could go on and on...but it would just be more ranting and raving. I don't want to go back to broad band, that really sucks. So at the moment, I am just stuck and staying mainly pissed.

Rant ON!

With Cingular wireless, when you re-uped your contract every 2 years, you got a free phone. They switched your SIM card and showed you any new features, friendly as anything.

Now - you have to pay to renew your contract - which pays for the "free" cellphones. And if you need help? Sure - give me 3 more hours, and they'll be right with you.

They did their best to run off all the friendly, nice Cingular customer service reps.

I tried to switch to AT&T from AOL years ago, and was so swamped with junk and spam and spywear my whole computer crashed and had to be sent out. Never been right since, and it was fairly new then. Then I tried to get rid of them. HA! They're still sending me bills and calling my house, wanting me to pay off the "contract".

When hell freezes over and I have front row seats for the Eagles concert.

Wow - so glad to know I'm not the only one.

When I go online - I don't have to pay anything but the 18.00 fee - I always get free phones though.

I live in the boonies / high tech wise (pepper knows - she's been down for our bodacious monthly flea market)...I HAD cingular for 8 years with narry a problem - when they bought AT&T - not a glitch - AT&T got them - it SUCKS - I can be standing still without breathing - not a noisehair moving in the middle of the freaking pasture with full bars then "BLAM" - network failure.

Then I can be on the phone with my programmer at the office - we'll be talking and then as he says "well apparently your phone thinks you've talked enough"

It's a PITA and one that I am probably going to start a website for - as soon as I figure out how to make sure I do it to where they won't take me to court (cause they will and they got money and I don't) - there is a guy who drives around town here with a big green neon posterboard on the back of his truck with VERIZON SUCKS - my son too a picture of it for his cellphone and said "Mom - we are we going to do AT&T" -- I'll have to put in on my husbands car though.

I am once again waiting for a technician to show up. They were supposed to be here within a window of 2-4. It is now- nearly 4.
Have I heard from them? Hell no. So I try to call them......I would have more luck getting through to George Bush. Some little snippet comes on reading from his script..."this is Chris, your U-verse tech. How may I provide you with excellent service today?" It is all I can do to keep myself from going off on the little @#$%&^%$. I sweetly say that I would just like some service, that it doesn't even have to be excellent. I just want my computer back. Damn, I'm glad that I had my physical this morning because my blood pressure is probably off the charts now. Sorry jerks!

How can I provide you with excellent service today.

You can get your supervisor and bypass all the chitchat because I'm calling because you have not provided excellent service which is why I'm having to call again for the 100th time and while I understand that you probably wrack up some kind of points for how many times you can hang up on a person while you put them on hold to research, if you put me on hold I'll find out where this little office is you people incompetently answer phones in and send the bad guys from Die Hard with A Vengence to exact my revenge. And please make sure that your supervisor speaks english. Thank you

Oh, you're good.....I would like to try that. I am always of the opinion though that I won't EVER get anything done if I turned into a certifiable bitch....I can do a good job of that but I'm not sure that it is to my advantage.

All of the Office Depot help lines are in India - and it's sad how many times it goes down like that...

Visions of "Short Circuit" always flash in my head when the phone gets answered.

Sigh

I have At&T Telephone, Internet (DSL) and Cell phone with 1,000 minute rollover Plan natrionwide service all for $113.00 per month. This includes all that line-backer junk and we get tons of city, county, state and federal taxes included with this. It doesn't cost me anymore to talk to Hawaii than it does to call the neighborhood Walgreen's. I can get satellite tv with HBO package for another $49.00. It really isn't too bad a service and we never really break down.

I had the same problem as Smoke with AT&T. I could not stop the service (Long distance). When I would call I would get the "To cancel service, press 6" but when I pressed 6 I got hold, and hold,,,and hold, until I would give up. When I got a human I was told to hold, etc,,,,,no answer. In the meantime I got late notices on my bill and new ones kept coming. Finally I had Verizon disconnect me from AT&T, they can do that, and told AT&T what they could do with their "late fees". I had big time problems a few years ago with their broadband service on my computer and only got relief when they sold out to Comcast. Comcast isn't anything to brag about but it's better than AT&T crap. Years ago they were blue chip stock but now they are cow chip stock.

It sounds like I entertain you when I have very legitimate complaints. Unfortunately, for some of you who think I am a trouble-maker or blowhard, I cannot put all the facts that are involved with my debates. I guarantee, I check with other players who are high up in this site and make sure my points are right. So, when I get a Science, geography or potpourri question in a World events question, nine chances out of ten you'll read my legitmate complaint that will get shot down by the same defenders of the system. Too bad I deleted the two support tickets that were sent to me. I don't know where Justin is, he would've told me to accept the glitch, but we have to be fair to the other players. 24 days until my subscription is up, it's only $80.00.

Rowlanda, Like the U.S. Marines loyalty, "Once a Teamster, Always a Teamster !!". No president has done anything for the working man that can compare to James R. Hoffa. I think of him daily.

I don't know if we are still on topic, but I have 2 cell phone services - Verizon for my personal cell, and AT&T for my company issued cell phone. Verizon is a dream to work with. AT&T is the pitts. Of course, the real pitts is that I am walking around with 2 cell phones.

We had AT&T for our home long-distance service, but dropped them when we went to one of these packages that links your phone, internet and TV. Love the package. No problem dropping AT&T, gotta hand them that.

I honestly believe the government took him away and kept him in South America. Ask the Kennedy family about the films Hoffa's hired private investigators had on RFK.. They were going to get released to a TV network on a Friday, but RFK was killed the day before. Visiting lonesome friends late at night type films.

For my home service, I have Adelphia cable. I use it for TV cable, phone, and internet. The service has been great - its gone out only a few times and they were working on it immediately. If I have a problem at home, they are able to help troubleshoot over the phone and even go so far as reset my modem or TV remotely. I have most recently just had a problem with them with billing. I usually pay more than my scheduled bill, because by doing so, usually it ends up being a treat once a year where I've paid enough ahead to get one month where I don't have to pay anything. So recently I opened a bill and it said I had an $80 credit. SWEET! Nothing to pay this month. The next month's bill comes, and it shows a removal of some odd payment of $118, and my bill was about 1.5 times the normal amount AND a I had a late fee of $5.00. It turns out they had credited somebody else's payment to my account, which put me at such a high credit. Then they removed it, which means that I actually had a balance owing, and since I didn't pay my balance owing, I got a late fee charged. I was super pissed. I called and ran into the whole foreign person fiasco and they agreed that they would remove the $5.00 as a "courtesy" but only after I paid the amount in full. As a courtesy?????

I know our companies frequently put their customer service departments in foreign countries to save money but its absolutely AWFUL to try and work through.

The first question I always ask is, "What country am I calling?" It's invariably not in the USA. So irritating... After I explain my problem if the person I'm speaking to can't resolve it, I refuse to speak to them for another moment, it's useless for us both. I request to be transferred to someone who can make decisions.
As an aside, I heard my husband speaking to the Philippines one day and ask how the weather was! I had to chuckle, did he think he would get better service?
I have Verizon for my cell phone and our Optimum for TV and internet, like them both alot. FIOS from Verizon was recently installed here and I will probably get that, much cheaper.

We have AT&T long distance. Up until about a year ago, your account number with them was basically your phone number. Made the bill paying easy. But then about a year ago, the morongoloids there decided that's not good enough. Instead they'd have a unique (twice as long) invoice number for you each month, and make you write that on your payment. And now here's the good part. The chimps put it in only one place on the bill -- right at the perforation where you tear off your payment coupon, and usually not perfectly, So the number inevitably gets shredded like Fawn Hall's panties, and becomes irreparably illegible by the time you're ready to write it down.
