The Walrus and the Carpenter (1) - Lewis Carroll

joannieJoannie on 04/28/2009

How well do you know Lewis Carroll’s 1872 narrative poem ‘The Walrus and the Carpenter’ (from ‘Through The Looking Glass And What Alice Found There’)?

This poem is composed of 18 stanzas and contains 108 lines so I will be doing this Kerblunk! in three parts; covering six stanzas per part.
According to Wikipedia, The Walrus and the Carpenter’s composition is ‘in an alternation of iambic trimesters and iambic tetrameters. The rhyme scheme is ABCBDB and masculine lines appear frequently. The rhyming and rhythmical schema used, as well as some archaisms and syntactical turns, are those of the traditional English ballad.’ (All which serves to make me feel I must’ve been a child genius to learn it off by heart, aged 6)!

Part One - just insert the missing word, I hope you enjoy doing it.
