Chaucer's Prologue to the Canterbury Tales
![]() |
Some Sploofers may have had to endure memorizing the General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales by Chaucer (1342-1400) in Middle English for senior English class. There are only ten questions here, although there are several more lines to the Prologue. The Classical Cat is questioning your Middle English aptitude.

Very original and challenging KB!
I` don't have long memories of Chaucer, thus my ordinary effort. But thanks for writing and interesting, cultural quiz - yop marks and that's not a typo!
I did not have to learn it until this year when a high school senior
living in my home needed to memorize lines 1-16 for honors
English. I learned it with her! (Well, I got 90% ...not too bad!)

Great quiz, Claire! Oy veh! We had to memorize this. Better was "Paradise Lost" and the Shakespearean soliloquies. Lowell (English major).
Loved the kerblunk! Great memories of a British Lit class I took long ago in college,
