|Born in Kentucky in 1936,Tom T. Hall is much more than just a singer. He is also a master story teller whose songs not only bring a picture to the listener's mind - they bring a whole story,w hich inspired country great, Tex Ritter to officially dub him with the title of "The Storyteller". Besides penning numerous songs, for both children and adults, he has also authored many books, including a 1979 auto-biography, which he titled "The Storyteller’s Nashville ".|
His songs have been sung by many of country music's finest, among them, Johnny Cash, Faron Young, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, and Jeannie C. Riley, who took Hall's song mentioned in Question 11 to award winning status, earning it both a Grammy Award and CMA award.
It also was the inspiration for a motion picture and a television program. And since I mentioned t.v., I'll go on and mention Tom's foray into that mediums limelight, also, when in 1980,he hosted "Pop! Goes the Country" a syndicated country music show.
Tom T. Hall was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on February 12th, 2008.
