Inspiring Lyrics - "Holy, Holy, Holy"
Puppyfoot on 09/06/2008
|The lyrics to the hymn "Holy, Holy, Holy" were written by Reginald Heber (1783-1826), who was a Church of England bishop. After his death, Bishop Heber's widow was looking through his papers and discovered the words to the hymn. In 1861, a publisher took the words to another clergyman, John Dykes (1823-1876), and asked him to write a tune to go with them. Reportedly, Reverend Dykes wrote the tune "Nicaea" for the hymn within 30 minutes of being given the lyrics. This quiz consists of two of the verses of this hymn.|
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: I realize that many hymns have different versions of lyrics because they have been revised over the years. If you feel that any of the "wrong" answers on this quiz are actually right and can send me information verifying this, I will gladly consider changing the answers. Thanks for your help.
