The Phutile Phillies have won the World Series only once, in 1980. In 1964, they had a 6 1/2 game lead with 12 games to play, only to lose 10 straight and come up one game short of the surging Cardinals. And in 2007, even though they won the NL East, they may be better remembered for losing their 10,000th game, more than any other professional sports team. But, aaaah, 1980.
