50 Greatest Rock & Roll Artists of All Time (41-50

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine celebrated the 50th anniversary of rock and roll by paying tribute to the fifty most important performers in the history of rock 'n' roll. The judges who selected the performers on this list were top musicians, historians, industry executives, and critics, all selected by the editors of the magazine. The panel voted for their choices, putting them in order of preference. Over 125 artists were chosen and then according to a calculation using a weighted point system (sort of like my Community Quiz Polls!) the ballots were tabulated and the final order was chosen, overseen by the accounting firm Ernst & Young. Then the editors chose a collection of singers, musicians, and producers to write about the artists who made the top 50. This quiz will look at the comments that were written about the artists by their fellow artists. I'll quote some of the descriptions that defend the artists' status as pioneers, teachers and stars, even though some of them are no longer alive. In some cases you'll have to guess who the artist is that made the list, and in some instances you'll have to guess who is the artist that is describing the rock 'n' roll legend.
