|Australia, a newly federated Commonwealth was soon called upon by its former colonial ruler to help in the 'Great War'. From 1914 to 1918 a country with barely 5 million citizens sent almost 420,000 of it's young men to war.|
Australia was on show as a nation on the most horrible of stages, and in a play lasting almost 5 years 60,000 of those young men never came home.
The place that Australia made its entrance was half a world away, in a country that most of them could not find on a map. That country was Turkey and at a place whose name still sends a chill through most Aussie's spines.
