A progressive quiz – find the missing link

The first nine questions will each throw up an answer in the form of a letter. You will need to write them down to discover the answer to the last question. Each of the first nine questions will feature a clue, plus a series of letters. When the correct (missing) letter is added three times to the sequence, it will produce a word. So, for example, a clue such as ‘filthy lucre – AON’ would produce an answer of the letter M, for MAMMON.
