The first CD of Christmas music - "A Very Special Christmas" was released in 1987 and since then over $100 million has been raised for The Special Olympics. Compiling major music artists from every genre contributing Christmas songs, these CD's offer a little above and beyond the usual Christmas fare. A Very Special Christmas got it's start with help from music producers Jimmy Iovine, Herb Alpert, Jerry Moss and Bobby Shriver, son of Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Now spawning A Very Special Christmas Live and A Very Special Christmas Acoustic as well as a DVD just released, A Very Special Christmas shows no signs of stopping.
