African-American Candidates for the US Presidency
![]() |
Barring his death or being caught in bed with a live boy or a dead woman, Barack Obama, pictured in this Introduction, will become the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party in 2008. Whether he wins or loses the general election, he will have been the most successful African-American presidential candidate in the history of the United States. There have been approximately 20 declared African-American candidates for the U.S. presidency in history. Some of these candidates ran for the office two or more times. African-Americans have sought the presidential nomination of the two major political parties and have also run on minor party tickets. In this quiz, you are asked questions about (or relating to) African-American presidential candidates. WARNING 1: I go for informative in my quizzes, and the questions in this quiz are meant to be read. The long questions contain information that can assist you in selecting the correct answer. WARNING 2: The first two questions are the hardest. Do not get discouraged if you don't know the answers to those questions.
