"Till Death Us Do Part" was a British hit Sitcom and Norman Lear bought the rights. He updated the bigoted dock worker, Alf Garnett, into the bigoted dock worker, Archie Bunker and tried to sell the newly titled show to ABC as "Those Were the Days". ABC, in a brilliant business decision, turned Lear down. Maybe they didn't like great ratings.
