An Early British Empire Career, and all that

Since no-one's yet stopped me (only 'cos the first two quizzes in this series haven't even made it through the Editors yet!), I'll wind up with memories of seeing the British Empire disappearing. My family in those days - as did so many in the UK - had numerous Empire contacts through business, being in the forces, emigrating relatives, etc. So, through work or visiting, or through talking with returned friends, etc., I'm glad now that I had a lot of 'Empire' experiences before the world (according to the British!) then changed so much. There might be one other Sploofer out of 8,000 out there who might also be vaguely interested! How's your knowledge of 'the decline and fall of the British Empire'?
