Business Entrepreneurs Who Were Home-Schooled

BusinessEntrepreneursWhoWereHomeSchooled Photo Home schooling. Here are two opposing views as expressed in the March 2008 issue of Glaour magazine: Some say it provides extraordinary opportunities since even if you're being taught all subjects, when there is one that the student particularly enjoys, it can be explored in greater depth. And as for the claim that there's a lack of socializing, that all depends on the family. If they are industrious enough, some homeschooling families have gotten together with other homeschoolinig families and have formed debate teams, or joined a church choirs, or any of several other forms of clubs. And some students claim they have an easier time in college because they were used to structuring their own curriculum.

On the other hand, some kids crave the company of other children. One woman regretted her homeschooling because being raised by a single mother who thought regular school would "stifle our artistic nature" gave her kids books and said, "If you want to learn, go ahead." As a result all she did was play with her dolls, ignoring her school books. She says by the time she got to college she didn't know how to have relationships, so she shut people out. She says she will definitely send her own kids to school.

From American Legion magazine, September 2008:
A recent study published by the Fraser Institute reveals fascinating facts about the historic roots and growing influence of homeschooling. As recently as 1980, home-schooling was illegal in 30 states. Not until 1993 was it legal in all 50 states. But it has exploded in the past 20 years, educating just 50,000 U.S. kids in 1985, 300,000 by 1992, 850,000 by 1999, and “perhaps as high as 2.1 million” by the mid-2000s. The study, “Homeschooling: From the Extreme to the Mainstream,” notes that presidents George Washington, John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt were all homeschooled, as were John Jay, Thomas Edison, Robert E. Lee, Booker T. Washington, Mark Twain and Andrew Carnegie.

Here are some famous people who have been homeschooled. I hope you enjoy the quiz, and please rate it afterward if you have a chance. There will be a test. I'll be sending a tutor to your home to check up on your quiz-taking work.
Best wishes,
