Buzzwords #2
![]() |
The definition of a buzzword is the same as that for an idiom. A buzzword is different from jargon in that buzzwords are usually used to disguise the real meaning whereas jargon are simply terms used by folks in a particular, trade, profession, etc. that are peculiar to anyone else but familiar to them. Buzzwords are commonly used in the fields of business, media, and politics, although they do appear elsewhere. They many disappear as quickly as they appeared. If a buzzword appears in a dictionary at all the meaning given will most likely be far from the meaning of the buzzword. The buzzwords I use in the quiz may only be as current as 2003. My two main sources are Wikipedia and BuzzWhack. The latter site is a creation of John Walston. He has been a top editor for USA Today as well as other editing positions. I learned a lot from the creation of both of my quizzes thus far on this topic-totally new to me. ENJOY!
